Well, congratulations! And a great set of photos, too.

I wish I was showing Seramas when I was in 4H; a lot to recommend an animal you can control. Heck even a sheep would have been easier than an eight-month-old Holstein, which is what I had for fitting and showing when I was nine.

So Stumpfarmer, you know Geology, can you explain to me. . . . Why we have yet to get an aftershock after that 6.4?

Or, any earthquake in the area yet since then?

I'm not sure, although again, 6-ish quakes around here get less aftershocks than in other places, including the Aleutians, Japan and Indonesia as well as more continental locations. I heard one geophysicist say that a lot of the quakes like the one today, out on the subduction zone, could be considered aftershocks of the Cascadia Quake in 1700, the one that was dated from Japanese sources describing the tsunami and later from tree-ring dates from a drowned forest on the Copalis river. Which scares the pants off me for some reason.

It's not something I've pursued, although the answer might be at the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network.

the picture & story of the little girl with your dd's bird is so cute. And your dd looks so proud and happy to be showing her beautiful bird, even before she won the grand champion. Congrats to you both!

I did not feel the earthquake in the U-district area of Seattle - and I wasn't surprised when I read my emailed earthquake report. (What can I say...I live in the Northwest!)

This earthquake was 25km down and happened 138km from Campell River. Having driven there - taking 3.5 hours from Victoria - that's pretty far away from Seattle. Here are stats from my email for those interested
