I wish it had been cooler for the fair. that was just unbearable. I took my black orp out of his cage and let him stand in some water, helped to cool him down. He was kind of like the barn mascot...walking around and just talking to everyone. He didn't go anywhere. It was miserable for the people too. I was miserable for sure.

I am sure glad it has cooled down.

Ok here is the promised pictures.
I took about 50...starting inside the coop, and ending outside as there were alot in the run.
On the way, I took a pic of my gobblers.
If I do a goobler turkey call (I am good at it!

) They all come running & gobblin at the same time...cool!!
Here is the pics, and remember, they are busy & move fast!

Thank you...It has been so many years since I did any major canning I have forgotten. All I have done over the past few years is jams. Every year I get my Ball canning book out - I think I have had that book for 30+ years.

Well, lunch break is over....back to work. Everyone have a nice day.

He used to sell at the Oly Farmer's Market, but is now mostly selling by contract (primarily to restaurants and caterers, I suspect) as far as I know. This is the time of year he showed up at the market, so if I get there this weekend I'll pay attention and see if he's there.

I prefer to think of it as "kind" myself- I can wear a long-sleeved Tshirt and socks under my jeans and not cook in the sun! (high 60s in the daytime, low 50s at night: miles better than 85F days and 45F nights!

I am most definetly making my strawberries in pipe 'towers' such as he has.
Have you seen the pics?
Absolutely awesome!
No worry over slugs either!
No stooping to pick or weed, and saves so much time with less water!
I have miles or irrigation tubing, fittings, tiny sprinklers & timers that I saved from when we were in California.
This will be an addition to the garden next year, along with a fiberglass roof on the green house, instead of plastic film.

I just culled 8 little cockerals and a very old (my favorite) hen.
They all had to go.
In the process DH slammed the gate on thrie pen & did not notice it bounced open again,

and so we spent 15 minutes chasing peeps through the woods.
Got them all back in (I think) and so now we go to the dump..
Do you love the Icelandic colors?
Awesome blues, spangles & crests.
Keep in mind this hatch was on July 11th.so they are still young & will get much prettier & larger.
I am particularly excited about offering some of their white eggs in addition to the other colors I sell...dark brown, light brown, blue, turquoisy blue, pinkish & olive and now a few white to set off the palette.
Later guys!

I know tomatoes are okay, but with so many bell peppers changing the acidity, I don't risk it. Cowardly me - still alive me!
