They are soooooooooo lucky it was not as bad as the San Bruno explosion last year!
THAT explosion was just below the backyard fence (down a super steep cliff) from DH's chicldhood home on Catalpa Way, where he & his family lived for 60+ years, and just moved from, a year before.
His folks then bought the pheasant farm in NorCal.
Gas line leaks are scarey!
And that leak in Seattle was reported the day before.
So was the one in San bruno...weeks before it blew.

pips&peeps :

I know!! I went out to feed the juvenile birds (chickens) the other evening and there were so many feathers I instantly thought someone got eaten......

ETA: the baby is growing!! Looks like me when I was little. I had a full head of black hair too.

I keep thinking the same thing & have to do a head count!
Feathers are everywhere and the wind has whipped them all over the place!

Well, guess I have finally caught up again...

ILLIA:: The puppy is so adorable! I Love puppies!!!!!!!!!!

RFF::::: Isn't it a kick to play dress up with a real baby?????

She is so big!!

Pips& peeps::::: Going to the big show???
I wish you all the luck!!! and please take lots of pictures!!!

Ogress::: With this wind, no guarantee any apples will be left on the tree.
Good news: you won't have to go up a ladder & there is a THICK layer of loped over 5'tall grass to cushion there fall so no bruises.
And the longer they sit, the sweeter they get.
Bad news::: The deer & elk LOVE THEM TOO!!

So........I am making my last bacth of Apple Butter
th.gif
and painting my new "eggs for Sale" sign...and put the huckleberries in pint containers in the freezer...what else?
Guess nothing, so I am gone off to work again!
It has rained torrents here today!

One of my pet peeves is hearing radio/tv announcers mispronounce Washington State names, like Methow (MET-how), Ephrata (ee-FRAY-tu, and Colville (CAWL-vill). Dang... if you're going to live and work in the local communications field, learn the local pronunciations.

Against all expectations I got two eggs today; I also soaked through two jackets, both nominally waterproof. And I need to go out as soon as I warm up a little and pick raspberries, because today's pint is so ripe the wind will knock them down in the night and I don't share my raspberries with the darned slugs.

I'm afraid we are going to see much more of this, and things like that bridge collapse in Minnesota a few years back. When you look ate where all our tax money goes, it's scary how very little goes to maintaining infrastructure, and how much goes to other services that really need to be scrutinized. I doubt the utility companies are any better. The oil companies already proved that with the BP well - they submitted a 20+ year old safety plan that was written for the arctic! All those huge oil profits and nothing is spent on making deep water drilling any safer; and you'd think the wonderful people who are supposed to be working for us would have changed that with the BP disaster, but while we were all engrossed in watching the disaster unfold in Japan, they quietly allowed the oil companies to go drilling in deep water again, and the president signed off on it WITH NO CHANGES TO THE SAFETY PROCEDURES!!! I bet the oil companies again will post record profits - when the price per barrel of oil increases, it is immediately reflected in gas prices we pay at the pump, but when the price of crude drops, it takes forever for it to be reflected at the pumps. I've been keeping track of what I spend on gas since 2008 and I just compared it to oil prices over the same time period. I think I will graph it.

I have not kept track of my chicken feed for as long, and have switched brands, organic then non-organic as prices skyrocket - It would have been interesting to put that on the graph as well.

That is close to me but not me. I've been sick so not watching news or online or anything, but did hear all the fire engines this morning...

The couple had a gas leak that ignited when they turned on the lights this morning at 5am... Amazing they survived.

Thank you for thinking of me

You should see my place with over 30 sebbies running amuck......

I had only 3 and that was enough! They TRASHED the place!! It looked like someone got a bunch of plastic containers and shredded them up, or someone dumped all their garbage on the yard.

Mine stopped producing about a month ago..and during the dry heat they had a tad bit of those spider mites that web....so I had to hit the berry vines with the hose a few times a day to rid the mites.

Stay dry Julia!
maybe coming in your way in the next day or two, we need another 10# of GB from Margo........if she has any???
