Illia, why not give the Mastiffs another chance?
They are just puppies!
Not even a year old yet...I would give them the benefit of the doubt & not take any chances hand feeding a puppy with a head bigger than my rear end!!!!!!!

They are so awesome!

I have a gal pal in Idaho who raises Min Pins....vecious little boogers too!
One female actually brought down a full 40 pound Tom turkey, by it's neck, and killed it dead by herself!
You would think the big bird would have flown, or something..they have the funny snarl too.
My brother has the ultimate nutcracker~
Black Scotties, so cute, short little legs, but viscious ratters they are!
They have the funniest snarl on nitrous oxide...and a long nose full of very needle sharp terrier teeth.
I want one, for the rat & varmint capabilities, but fear it would love chicken as well...

They are, but the decision isn't mine, and the female I would agree to sell or give away. She really isn't the brightest. The best way to describe her is wild or reptilian in thought. Most of her actions are selfish and instinctual, few if none are really influenced by emotion and consideration for any other animal or even for her own sake. She has no respect for the male, no respect for us except when she's in the living room and wants to bury her head in our laps which is adorable, but otherwise, she's pretty much an eat/sleep/get what I want kind of dog. She doesn't understand punishment, or listening to commands, or simple obiedience, she can't even look you straight in the eye, and is pretty much "scattered."

We've been in conversation with a local Boerboel breeder outside Sequim and it seems we aren't alone, however, our case is semi-special, in that one in every handful of Boerboels is like her.

The male is just not as tall as he should be, no where near, and he's not as sociable as the female. He's pretty much to himself, very male in behavior. He wags his tail a lot but the most you get out of him is a look, maybe a brush, then he's doing his own thing. We got Boerboels for their supposed very attached, personable temperament.

But like said, the decision isn't mine, as the dogs aren't mine. Personally I wouldn't have gotten them in the first place

- The breeder never had videos and few photos if only one per dog, plus they're from Africa and trust there is low, and then there's the fact that Boerboels are indeed known to be a very personable dog, but half the people do say they are like our female.

And then let's not forget the fact that the female arrived emaciated, the male arrived with parvo and both had serious worms.

I love the dogs but I don't think it is worth it for us to continue with them. They're not improving, and they're expensive to keep. They are indeed beautiful and awesome to look at though.

More pullets laying, I hope?

See what I mean by being able to see if it leaks???????

Well, off to make the tamale pie, complete with a home made salsa of tomatoes and tomitillos...

Yes finally! There has to be at least 4 laying now, as I collected 3 days ago and check for eggs every day. They are refusing to lay in the coop!!!

They never lay in the same spot twice iether! Today I collected 10 eggs, cracked 2 open and both had the bullsey, I even went and cross checked with pictures posted on telling the difference. They were deffinately bullseyes. So I put the remaining 8 eggs in along with two from my barred rock girl.

These little buggers like to hide their eggs from me. Any tips on getting them to lay in the provided coop/nest boxes? Im thinking of biting the bullet and purchasing some wooden eggs, as the golf balls dont seem to be doing the trick with these girls...

Well...it's small. They claimed it was for a Great Dane, so I expecting HUGE. Actual dimensions: "3'4.5" wide 4' deep 4'5" height at tallest point (peak) abt 10sq ft of floor space inside".

That's much taller than their current arrangement, but the floor space isn't much bigger. Not sure if it's worth it?

Nope, that's it.

I think I'm going to attempt to figure out the appropriate dimensions for the coop I want - not like I consider myself a coop architect, but it shouldn't be that hard, right?. I had Industrial Arts class uhh...about 25 years ago.

Let me know when you get dimensions and I'll see if it will fit in our toyota pickup.

edit - oops - should read to the end before I reply

got excited.

Looking at the photo - it looks a bit like our coop - except that ours is on a stand. So I went out to measure it. It's 3.5' wide - 5.5' long, and 4' tall. The nest boxes take up about a foot of the 5.5 length. We have a perch going down the center and two on each side a bit higher - enough room for about 8 birds. If you really only want 6 - this would work. And if you find a better one later - you can use it for your broody house, cockerel house, etc.

Let me know if I should go take pics of the inside of my coop so you could see how it might work!
