Umpteen million pages behind. I have been sick.

But do have a quick question for everyone. I have a naked chicken.

YES really she has molted off almost all of her feathers. Her bottom is completely featherless. No - no one is picking on her. I have been watching. Could she have some kind of mite? I need to go and check and it is time to fall worm anyway. Everyone was checked the first of September before fair and they all looked good.

Please help with information. If she is just having a bad moult tha is fine...I just want to make sure there is not something else that could be going on.

Also, bad news for me: My "exhibition" quality Black Orp cockerel (only 6 months old) ..... has some white feathers. I have been watching him closely and he still has some feathers even after he just moulted. Family will not let me "freezer camp" him....so I will probably just leave him with the misc hens and work on getting a show quality black orp cockerel....or keep a lavendar one that should be hatching next week.

You don't know the half of it. At night there is a big bon fire and many dance around it naked. Also, the hill to get into where the Faire is at has been improved....but it could be hard to get in to. Very exciting place.....let me tell you. I have quite a few stories that I could tell you...don't have time right now. gotta get ready for work.

Have any of you noticed a real drop in egg production this year? My hens are just not producing like they have in the past (and I have added new hens every year, so it isn't just age). I've asked a couple of local friends and they are having the same thing. Is it weather? Or is there something I'm not doing right (even though I haven't changed feed or care routines)?

Just curious if it's just a few flocks, or if it's all over Washington.

She did get caught far from the coop during a squal yesterday, and when she was all wet, she looked much worse, more and bigger bald patches than I suspected. Ewwww - but the pin feathers are coming in quickly - she feels like a porcupine!

Are you thinking of raising them or just want to get a few???

Raising them. I have a few that are a week or so old. I think they are nifty lookin
