Yes on the no blue gene part.
The male is a Golden Duckwing, but yes, carries Columbian. Many of those hens do too.
Well, this means that most of the chicks are indeed duckwings w/columbian, the male is indeed so, etc.
Concerning meat birds, how are people's going? I've got my one Shamo x Sussex chick, yes, but I've got about 20-40 chicks for meat purposes right now that are 1/4 Polish, 3/4 Marans believe it or not.
My Tolbunt boy adds some fast growth, good vigor, and a LOT of size to his crossbred offspring, as he himself is bigger/meatier than most Polish and certainly not related to most other birds out there. And then of course since my Sussex are not laying yet, on one of their many breaks - The Marans are the other parent. Fast growers, the boys get huge and very meaty, and they're very tough birds. (as in, vigor)
The father to these dozens of chicks is my 1/2 Polish 1/2 Marans boy, (some pages back I posted him, he's a gold laced rooster with a BIG tail, feathered legs, and partial beard and crest) and the mothers are several very large Black Copper Marans.
The chicks are ranging from gold laced, mutt color, mostly black, to a normal black copper color. Half of them are bearded, half have varying size of crests, all are feather legged, and there's no saying on gender yet as their ages range from just over a week old to less than a day old. Got LOADS of em hatching out right now.
In a couple weeks I'll have Olive Eggers hatching out too; We'll see if my Olive Eggers (same Marans moms, two different meaty Araucana dads) or my 1/4 Polish chicks win the contest of who's best. The pullets will be sold though, so hey, if you like the look of a tufted Araucana but love olive eggs, feathered legs, a bigger body, or a tail - I'll be sellin em.
some will be barred, some blue barred, some blue, some black copper, some lemon blue)
