If you are not going to hatch any of the eggs then go ahead and get whatever you can find. If you want to hatch out ducklings then you should really be more careful. The runner you got from me came from good lines. If you mate her with a good runner male then you will have strong runners both in the egg laying aspect and in their legs. If you mix runner ducks with other breeds sometimes you can get weird looking birds.

Yes like if ya mate a runner with a "NORMAL" duck ya will get that TRIANGULATED DUCK

Well as I said, I have that muscovy/runner cross male and its a big funny looking sucker. Nice plumage in areas though.

Sorry, I went in 3 barns and saw none of those, but the cochins are not my thing..I did not even go down that aisle.
I am into the Americans.

The geese are in the geese pens near the waterfowl. I like this show because they don't put them in individual cages, which stresses them out, unless they go to champion row. You can have two or three in a pen, and they are much happier that way.

Yep, the sebastopols were really pretty, loved looking at them. Our favorite of the ducks & geese was the blue runner, not the winner but very entertaining to stare at.

And it was fun watching the judging when they put them down in a pen to run around. Bowling pins on legs!

TARPS PLUS Update.

In case anyone is still interested, I said I'd report back about the flawed tarp. They responded VERY quickly and sent me a new tarp right away. It arrived Friday after we'd already left for Stevenson. Here's the review I wrote for them on Yahoo.

The only reason I didn't give Tarps Plus a perfect score is that the first tarp that arrived was flawed. I ordered a 10x10 clear poly tarp that has a nylon mesh laminated between 2 sheets of clear plastic. To make the 10' width the white nylon mesh is overlapped (not just abutted) down the length of the tarp, then covered with the clear plastic. On the tarp I received, there were holes alongside this overlap, the entire length of the tarp. Obviously a mfg. flaw that wasn't caught before it was packaged and shipped.

I took photos and sent an e-mail to TarpsPlus (in the evening after they closed). First thing the next morning I received an e-mail from customer svc. saying they would send me a replacement tarp. No muss, no fuss, they simply took care of it!! That is Customer Service!! The replacement tarp arrived 3 days later, just as quickly as the original. I opened it, checked for holes, and found it to be sound.

So, even though the first tarp was flawed, I found TarpsPlus easy to deal with, they had very fast processing and delivery, and when there was a problem it was handled very quickly and easily. No muss, no fuss. Thank you!

1. If I want to politely complain, I will do so.
2. If you are going to express your opinion here - be prepared for others to do so as well.
3. Thank you for reminding me about the Capons - they were pretty neat.
4. If you enjoyed the show, please don't come on here and tout your excitement. It bothers those of us who wish to remain disappointed.
5. Seriously -- telling us not to share our experience? That's not a soap box - that's just rude.

The HUGE national show is in a couple weeks so many exhibitors that usually come were not there. Due to the Crossroads show, it was much smaller than normal.

...and what's wrong with silkies?????

Yeah, what's wrong with silkies? Of all my chickens, my silkie is the sweetest and most reliable egg layer. Just yesterday my daughter and I decided that we like the silkies best of all. I want another and I would love a frizzle.
