This just reminded me that I had asked my dad how they got rid of ring worm, before modern drugs. He said that they used Gentian Violet. The last time I tried to buy some it had become very expensive. It used to be one of the cheapest things to have on hand. One should research Gentian Violet before using. I am recalling that there may have been a problem with the original formula, of course that would be the one that really works.

Blu-Kote must be the same thing. Both products will stain everything purple. My poor dear Floozy is still purple from when the dogs loved her up early this spring. The dogs tore out the feathers on her back. I thought that all the girls had made it back into the run, but Miss Floozy must have not heard the call. Anyway she is fine after being Blu-Kote'd. She is just still purple.

So the point is I tried Gentian Violet on the puppies with mixed results.

Gentian violet is in Blu-kote.

Something else that works is alcohol...dab several times a day..as in rubbing alcohol.
The other thing that works fantastic is tea tree oil, otherwise known as Melalueka...........dab same way, it is a fantatsic anti-fungal.
I would not use yogurt, besides being cold & off smelling, is in itself is a fungally thing...

But then you don't have tasty culls. Last week I had a Saxony duck dinner (I gave my friends a butchered duck and they had us over for a Sunday meal) and silkie enchiladas. I suppose you could cook Seramas like doves...?

Yes, a serema would not make very many tamales

BUT, I DO have Dark Cornish, over white rocks, and Dark Cornish, over Buckeyes, AND Midget White Turkeys, half a freezer of the processed birds and the half of red salmon...so yeah, we are eating good in the neighborhood.
So..that is why I have these "yard candy" icelandics..and maybe get some seremas....

DH loved them, and that was startling!

Still, I think he's blow a gasket if I got anymore birds.
I would have brought ALOT of birds to Stevenson, tried last show, but it involves a motel, and we cannot afford to do that right now as we are building a house, CASH, while living in a cabin the size of an RV.
Monroe & Chehalis allow us to do the day & drive home.

But we did have fun, and the Stevenson show looked well organized, & clean!
The sale barn was great!!!
Good job to all who worked on the show.
And what a gorgeous drive, the scenery & weather were added awesome!!!!!!

Years ago I was upset about losing a nice heifer, a wise neighbor who was there said something that has never left me, 'if you have livestock you will lose some sometime, if it ever gets easy you shouldnt have any. ' Its been a long time since then, and a lot of critters have gone through my life, and I have never forgotten what he said, its helped me often.

Come spring time we need to do some icelandic egg trading. i only have like ~6 (great hatch rate of 19/24 but the chick feed killed most of them off in a few weeks) if i counted right and i need more genetic diversity..... mine came from Mack Hill.
