I had my fist coon sighting the other morning. Multiple animals. Live trap is in place, but not set. I want them to get used to it. I got a bag of HUGE marshmallows. That's bait

Coon's freak me out -- darn thumb thing, and their intelligence. Like 5 yr olds with super strength - and rabies, and big fangs like this II

he was NOT afraid of me really at all. Just sort of 'O... you, are you trying to chase me? I'll amble on off to the side here..' My husband asked if I was afraid of him, and I replied, --not at the moment, I was panicking for the ducks! lol!

I was really afraid of the raccoon when I was trying to pull my golden away from it the other morning. When it's 2 feet away from your face it's HUGE. But I was even more afraid for my dog who was trying to protect us. I'm going to have to keep a shovel or heavy tool by every back door now since I found myself unarmed.

Sure gets your adrenalin going, doesn't it?

Well I just bought a game cam.

Don't nobody tell DH. I just want to know how many things eat cat food on my front porch in the dark. then I will see if I am feeding more than just the chickens.

So I going to go to bed before I decide to buy something else tonight.

Not too bad, relatively speaking (compared with the locations of many other members here).

I'm in Lake Forest Park, not far north of Seattle.

I heard about the viaduct closing but wasn't sure on the day. Does it start tomorrow? I was out driving today and traffic wasn't any different than usual. But yes, it could have a big impact on his travel time.

Article My theory (coming from a gal who hasn't commuted to Seattle in years) it will be awful on Monday, but shouldn't impact your coop too much as I'm sure they are taking I5. It may be slower, but I may be naive about thinking about how many traveled on 99 on a Saturday.

I'll be here with rain boots on. I have a feeling that coop will be chilling in the truck for a day or two. I'm not going to make my family move stuff in the rain. But sitting in the truck is an option for us since the truck isn't a daily user and is parked in the back yard. I don't want your coop sitting in your front yard.

OK, we caught the pea fowl............and birdnbeasts wants them...in the 503 area code.
Has anyone seen her post elsewhere?
She PMd me............anyways, if you 'see' her, please tell her, the birds are now trapped in a shed, and she needs to come get them ASAP!!!!!!!!

They scared off an entire herd of deer w/many bucks this morning, and it was all I could do to stop DH from shooting all the pea fowl.
They got to honking & screeching and wing flapping and scared the heck out of the deer.
But locked in a shed, they will need to be taken SOON!

Oh you are going to have fun with that!!
We love ours!
You can see neighbors where they are not supposed to be..people dumping unwanted animals off in front of your house...and wildlife beyond your dreams.
I set ours up (just for kicks we rotate it from spot to spot) and the next day, we saw a huge skunk!!!
never smelled a thing!
The skunk came in under a gate 2" off the ground smashed itself flat like a house cat!
It then wandered from that pen under another gate into a back pen, and from there it went under the coop and came back out in the yard, where it was seen ambling off into the woods.
We had never seen a skunk here & had no idea it was in what we thought were secure pens.
So we beefed up security.
We have also gotten lots of shots of deer, bob cats, coyotes, racoons & bad humans.
DH set the cam high on a tree looking out our driveway gate, and you would not believe the people who stopped to both relieve themselves (one did #2 !!!!!!!!) and clean their cars out & left trash & dumped house cats.

Racoons WILL attack you and hurt you BAD!!!!!!!
Stay away from them!
Do NOT even get within baseball bat range!!
They go nuts and will be all over you in seconds like a furious house cat, and they can bite HARD!!!!!!!
