I would like to state just for the record and in the interest of accuracy that it is legal to bowhunt without wearing any orange as long as one is doing so during the archery season and not during a gun season.

Also, I would like to state that the idiot who shot the bow which resulted in an arrow landing in a stump near kids and also over a house is NOT a bowhunter. He may be hunting with a bow but there is a difference and that comes from one who has hunted with a bow for almost 40 years.

Additionally, speaking of "residential neighborhoods", bowhunting has been a welcomed means of thinning local deer herds who have over-populated and gotten completely out of control. Done correctly it is a very efficient and effective means of culling the herd. Most bowshots, especially those in residential areas, are under 20 yards.

And lastly, one of the first rules in hunting - whether it is with a gun or bow - is to know your target AND what lies beyond it BEFORE you pull the trigger or loose the arrow.

God Bless,

I was hoping we'd get a review of how it turns out. I've already bookmarked the recipe and am trying to figure what event I can make it for so I can have a bite and leave the rest!

The one I had also had mini chocolate chips sprinkled on top. It was very, very good, and very moist. It was also the first desert gone.

Cake is in the oven - I had to make a few changes as I did not want to go shopping. It is a good recipe to use up all those packaged ingredients that I tend to purchase too much of when I find them on sale. I had the yellow cake mix (best if used by date from 10 months ago - still smelled fresh), I did not have vanilla pudding mix. I was going to use cheesecake pudding mix until I saw the BIYB date of October 05! Instead I used pistachio which was only about 2 years past date. I also added vanilla extract, pumpkin pie spice, and I sprinkled chocolate chips on the top - not sure how long ago I bought those, maybe a year ago. They had not turned white, so I am assuming they are still fine. At least the eggs were fresh!... and the milk and sour cream too.

I'll let you all know how it tastes.

Oh I hope it turns out well for you! I am finding it really hard to resist making it tonight! I know if I did, the family would dig in, and I wouldn't want to bring half eaten cake tomorrow!!! LOL!

Well said Royce! I am not a bowhunter - I am just not that convinced that I am a good enough shot with my bow - but I am a rifle hunter, and knowing your target is the most important thing!!! I don't believe in "hunting accidents"....they are really just "acts of stupidity"....most of the time.

It was miserable this afternoon. Ran some errands with oldest DD, then picked up middle DD at the middle school and it was just foul out there! Or should I say fowl?

Had you or my brother been hunting here instead of the idiots who frequent this area, there would be at least one less large area that hunting is now banned on. Too bad, as we border the Seattle watershed, so the wildlife is abundant and huge.

We have some real fools out here - my first fall here, someone shot a big bull-elk on the shoulder, but did not take it down. The suffering animal wandered the neighborhood for a good week, F&W would not come out to finish the job, and even though whenever anyone saw the animal, they'd post the location on the neighborhood web, no one was ever able to find it. One morning my next-door neighbor found it dead, ying just a few feet from his front door. F&W would not come out, nor would animal control or anyone else. They said to push it in the woods and let nature take its course. My neighbor got his kubota and pushed it into the greenbelt between our houses. We had our first Oktoberfest that weekend, The flies were terrible and depending on the wind direction, the smells were too. At leas when people were driving out to see our new house, we could say "Look for the vultures."

I agree and I think you may have missed my post or didn't understand it the way I intended it. See I laid it out almost exsactally as in the WDFW game laws.

Hi everybody
smile.png
busy week at work - and it's getting to that time of year when I barely get to see my girls

I have to leave too early - and today when I got home the chicks & mommy were already in the coop - with the pullets starting to venture in!

Speaking of...mama had moved the chicks to the big coop for a few days, then back to the little coop for a little more than a week, and now back to the big coop for the last couple nights. And now Henrietta needs to be taken down a few pegs as she is beating up the pullets again, so she is in the little coop all by herself. Ah...the chicken drama!
