Depending on the original type of loan....there is/was a program called Cash for Keys. Like I said...depending on the bank and type of loan (ie, Fannie Mae, etc) the bank will pay for her to rehome and help with moving expenses. She needs to talk to the bank and the government agency who backed it. I don't know if this is still going on...but it is worth checking into. Also, around her...some banks have started the forclosure process and keep threatening to "auction" and 2 years later it still has not happened. Some of these people have stayed in the house this entire time, rent free. Still have an exit strategy...but check into EVERYTHING.....there may be help out there for her.
Oh, also talk with whoever the real estate agent is. Is this a tax foreclosure or bank foreclosure? that can make a difference too.
If the friends were renting it to her for like $5 a month, and she had a lease, I know they would pay her like $4000 to move.
Who would pay her?
