remember when thinking of "goodies", that some BYCers are gluten-sensitive, some are diabetic or pre-diabetic, some tend to hypoglycemia

so sweet stuff or baked goods would need to be the special-diet kinds, not out of Betty Crocker, Fanny Farmer, or Safeway ...

or else carefully labeled

for myself, I thought the high-protein and veggie food we had at Monroe, was really nice since it kept us going all day, without having to run out to get food, or pay sixteen prices at a booth (if the booth even carried food on our diets)

I agree now that it is mentioned.
I had poached prawns & a big salad..........GF home made cranberryraspberry walnut dressing..(last year)......I will do that again.
My mainstay as it is good cold.
I will do some horseradish-cocktail dip too.

What else could we bring that is good cold?
Mac salad, potato salad.....cold fried chicken wings/drumettes?
Cold cuts & crusty bread?

from yer neighbour to the north in Ethel.
While I am not one of the most knowledgeable on here I will try to help ya with what I do. I don't use a heat lamp for my birds after they are fully feathered and have some good size. I do use a regular light 90 watt on a timer during winter. I sett my timers to come on early and go off after daylight. I then let the birds go to bed with the sun. The reason I do this is that from what I know the birds need 14 hours of light to help maintain egg production.
As for putting light on your birds at this point. I am not sure. Please keep in mind that this is just my opinion and what I find works for me. Others may tell you different and you may still find something else works better for you.

You NAMED YOUR CHICKENS

Oh my none of us would ever think of that (yeah right he's lyin) I think it would be reasonable to say that many on here have named chickens and

know each others chickens by name.
Also mark your calender or Dec 3. There is a chicken show in Chehalis at the SWW fair grounds. This would a good chance to be enabled even more and meet several from here. I plan to be there as a vendor with metal art.

I would have to agree with CR...no one here names their birds...for that matter I bet that :
Adam
Milly
Martha
Alice
Hanna
Sally
Emily
Raven
Amelia
The Barred Rock Bitties (which there are 5)
Herman (R.I.P)
and
Lilly (R.I.P)

would have to agree that naming your birds is just plum crazy.
BTW...I think that they know their names and will come when called. Or ignore when called...which ever they feel like doing.

I hate meds.
One problem solved, but ... usually brings on another.

I have not taken it.
Doc wants me off HRT..and this stuff he Rxd is an "anti depressant, common side effects are increased sweating (oh yeah, I need that!) and dry mouth/eyes (I already have Sjorens) and a handful of other lovely side effects like increased mood swings, hallucinations (wow!) thoughts of suicide..(what!!??)
So, no, I think I will pass........hand over the Merlot!

The Merlot is always a good choice...my personal favorite....but have you ever looked into the biodenticels? (sp) I am on it and it has changed my life. It helps me tremendously. After some adjusting and fooling with I think we are getting the right dosage and flavor (I am on progesterone)..don't need the estrogen.

But never give up on the Merlot.
