Yes, it is...

I wonder if I should try hatching some cheap eggs before I pay for the breeds I really want to hatch - since I've never done this before.

I vote yes, you are going to stress big time with the first batch. What kind of incubator did you get?

X2 I had a large learning curve with the first couple of hatches. I really just didn't even know what questions I needed to ask with the first hatch.

I will let you know how my cam works. I bought it based on the reviews on Amazon. The cam should arrive any day now. I use Amazon a lot for rating items. They sell just about everything and allow customers to review the products. As far as I can tell they seem to beat prices anywhere else also.

Well I missed a couple of days, and now I have missed at least 50 pages. But here I am working as the chief of the night crew. I managed to get about a third of the house mopped. I have found that the only way I can make certain that the floor is really clean is to get down on my hands and knees and scrub with bleach water. I am fairly tolerant of untidy, but I hate dirty floors. So tonight I at least have some clean floors.

don't wanna risk hurting any feelers by saying the kind of slap.

Never guessed you for the type of guy who liked a good spanking!

Busy busy busy- it's feast or famine. Seems like all the big tests and assignments come due at once!

If she doesn't need both a hen and a drake, I can donate a drake. I have two pair, and (gasp) have decided that my duck population has been stable enough that I can risk having only one appleyard drake. I live in the Tri-cities, but I'm never near Redmond

... however, if a drake helps her out a trade could be made (for ducklings in spring).

OK, just checking that you guys understand what premarin is right? Mare urine? and there is a huge controversy about how the horses are treated. They are bred and foal and collect their urine and the foals from these mares are discarded. Just making sure you know this. Not going to start anything.

I never heard they were discarded, that they were allowed to nurse & the urine collected in a bag, and the mare free ranging.
I researched this in the 60s when birth control pills came out...all birth control are PMU.
I went to facilities, and they were as they said.
Have you heard otherwise?
So, where do they get Progesterone ???
Oh maybe I do not want to know!

Stallions?
Bulls?
The same mares?

Birth control is not PMU. While at one point they may have been, synthetic hormones are cheaper (and not from urine) and have been the go-to progesterone source for most drugs for years.

I do sell my normal free range eggs for $5 a doz. $3.50 1/2 doz... and i am always sold out. planning to sell the duck eggs at $7. we been paying $15 for 50# feed for 3 years now. can't find anyone here that would sell in bulk. i did try a local guy who mixed grain and sold for $.23 per pound.... but my chickens quit laying this summer after i switched to that feed.... so its Layeena forever for me... i been wanted to call purina and have it delivered directly... but i think they would laugh at me. I now go through 300 pounds every 2 weeks probably more cos of the scratch. that is why my eggs are priced at minimum of $5.

Since you are a farm, you should be able to buy wholesale!!

LOOK:: MY Icees..........

Easier said than done in many cases. PipsnPeeps has sold eggs, birds, and had a business license for years yet cannot get wholesale prices on feed up near Spokane.

Seriously????????????
You & him gonna be pals????????

Yes I am serious he lives very close and I am friends with some of his friends but barely know Mr. Decker.

As for being pals......... Well I am not so surethat would be in my best interest. See while I have always heard how awesome Mr. Decker is I am not sure that I am willing to chance losing some to gain one !!

Decker is serious about his poultry. He would be a big help to you, in making some basic decisions. Or, just enter anything you think looks good and know you'll learn alot if you track down experienced people to look at your birds. I never had a local mentor.
