Hey everyone! I am just checking in....Audrey's been really sick with a bad cold & cough. No fever...but VERY fussy, not eating well, not sleeping well....just miserable. And making us miserable, too!

Nose drops, warm steaming in the shower, lots of snuggling...

I've been exhausted when I come home from work and have to feed/water in the dark and then make dinner and entertain the baby.

There's a student of DH's coming up tomorrow to pick up my white Houdan roo. I ended up giving him away.

I couldn't even get $10 for him around here. It's a same because he's awesome. Oh well, this kid does 4-H and with my luck he'll probably show this bird next summer at fair and beat me!

We got some snow today--not much but it rained in town and snowed at our house.

This afternoon, DH & I went to Wal-Mart and bought a warm mist Vick's Humidifier. We now have the cool-mist (whole house) one running as well as the warm mist one next to the crib. That seems to be making a big difference with Audrey's congestion...which has turned to drippy snot.

Oh and I got a video of her laughing, finally!

Audrey laughing! Just had to share!

I kind of see a pattern here at CL's. Maybe we should use this method for our dear CL. I also think she should think of changing farm name to Wobins Weebles wobble and thum fall down

Yeah, maybe we need to duct tape my feets to a board and stick me in a cup to my armpits too?

You oughta see the black huge bruises on my back...wow.
Looks like I was in a car wreck!
I'll tell people who ask what happened, that I was bull riding, and landed badly & then was gorged in the back....

Thanks! She's been doing it on & off for a few weeks...I just could never get it timed right to catch it on video until tonight. She also was rolling over for the first time tonight which I videoed as well--but I have to upload it and it takes 30+ minutes to them off on my iPod so I'll get to it in the morning...I'm off to bed now before Audrey wakes up for her 2am feeding.

I live with 5 of those nasty little crumb catchers.

It's is very funny when I drop something that they don't like. About half the time Miss Gabby will eat it before she even knows what it is. She doesn't miss very much. She is a little shark. Sometimes I have to tell the nasty little dogs that I need clean up on Aisle 1,2,3, or 4. I have named the different spaces in my kitchen just to be able to play this game. It works.

I love sneaking veggies into different meals. I have discovered that it isn't easy to hide beets. But a lot of other dishes are much easier to hide veggies in. I also tend to make some types of dinners in bulk so that I have dinners made for the days I am not up to cooking. I have found that it is just as easy to make 10 lasagnas at time, as it is to make just one. I always end up with a messy kitchen, and so I figure that I may as well get as much as I can out of the time.

I love baklava, but it always makes more than one person can eat, so I love making it for a group. I think that any dish that has a pound and half of butter in it, has to be fun to eat.

This made me laugh! There are whole books on how to do this with your kids, one by Jerry Seinfield's wife (forgot the name), and one called The Sneaky Chef. They have great ideas for adding nutrition into kids' food without them knowing about it! I used to put veggies through the food processor, then add them to my spaghetti sauce. I also cook the turkey gizzards, put them through the baby food grinder and add to the dressing. And use the water I cooked them in in the dressing too. I hate gizzards, and don't want to recognize them, but ground up they add flavor and nutrition. The kids still don't know they are there!

Great idea. I will do this the next time I make turkey dinner. Before I would dice them and add them to the gravy, but the family told me to knock it off.
