OK I am surfing ACL/PCL ligament replacement surgery..
and found a very good video.
It does not go into detail of where they GET the graft.
The graft ligamant comes from preferably you, #1 Pateller ligamant that run down from your knee cap, or ham sting tendon (ouch, roll me over!) or achilles (double ouch & I have bad achilles tendonitis, diseased achilles tendons, so they won't use those....

If not from you, from cadaver tissue.
How that is not rejected is also an issue I want to know about?????

Faint at heart, DO NOT VEIW this is an actual surgery video!

After 1 day of ice & immobilization, they put the leg on a exercise machine for 48 hrs, round the clock like a bicycle machine.
You do not pedal it, it moves by itself to exercise the knee tendons to prevent stiffining..all day & all night, for 2 full days.
DH says he is moving out.
How you unhook to go potty in the wee wee hours???????
Oh my, listen to me worrying about getting UP & going wee....
Hope this is not too adult....

Note: I am going to ask a mod if this is OK or not to leave posted.
So it may disapear;)

Another request, from gardeners:
Stumpfarmer, CCG, anyone?

I have a succulent collection.
Oddities all, and all was well until I brought home the last one which looks like moose antler..really cool.
It is thriving slowly, but had mealies.
I sprayed it with permethrin spray, and all was well, until 2 weeks later, more mealies.
I put them outside all summer, and they got lots of rain, still more mealies.
I kept spraying with the same stuff, still week later more mealies would show up.
I am now at 1 year, and brought them in for winter, and still saw a mealy.
I guess I have to use a strong insecticide?
Malathion?
Sevin?
Alot of sites say Vodka...I have none & my Mom will not share hers

Any ideas???

If you don't have a viable ligament, they sometimes get them from corpses, if the tissue is a match. I've heard that in some countries, (don't think they do it here) they can use pig tissue, which is very similar to human. But Since I haven't "been there, done that, got the T shirt", I cannot verify!

This must be SUCH a strain for his family!

Still catching up so I don't know what the latest news is. I'm still hopeful there is a positive outcome to this story. Sorry CR -

Give it a nice shower in soapy water, and then bare-root it, spray it down, and repot it entirely. Put a yellow sticky trap in the pot with it so you'll be sure to catch the first sign of reinfestation. Those darned things get just below soil level, and the only way to get rid of them is by getting rid of the soil and making sure there's no hitchhikers.

ARGH- which reminds me, I didn't get my poor naked dendrobium repotted today. I'd do it now except for the whole "don't want to move" part of the equation.
