There is also another place, but it is Auction only

POULTRY AUCTION EVERY SATURDAY AT 11 AM
558 COAL CREEK RD CHEHALIS WA
15% COMMISSION
CALL 360 748 0766
WEEKLY MARKET REPORT ON FACEBOOK

At Yard Birds, you can either put your birds for auction, or pay the $10 and set up in the parking lot. Prices you will get can vary widely. Hubby went a couple of weeks ago and prices were low; much higher at Coal Creak. Muscovies bring more at Coal Creek because of the Asian market (they prefer large drakes, and sometimes will fetch up to $50 per bird).

Hope this helps

Is it likely to be worth auctioning a few extra bantam roos at Chehalis this weekend? I could drive them over after my birds are in their show cages. I assume they have to be in individual cardboard boxes? What time is one supposed to have birds there? I've only done the Enumclaw auction in the past.

Cindy- I checked it out last year- the buyers cram them all (like 20 or 30) into a single metal rabbit cage. The prices on pullets were good last year, but cocks were dime a dozen. You might do ok with some fancy polish- but there is also an auction at the show in which 1/2 goes to the seller and 1/2 goes to the club. Birds for that must be quality, per the catalog. I don't know who makes that determination.

MMmmmm Malbec. Too bad you're way on the other side of the state, sounds like we would get along just fine. All the butchering skills I have I taught myself. I can break down a chicken, but can't debone one with enough efficiency.... so I don't do it because waste= me feeling guilty.

I've taught several others how to kill, pluck, clean, and break down a bird (goose, duck, chicken) and a glass of wine is a fine way to get everyone feeling a little more comfy.. Two, well,... they have to wait awhile for the knife.

Hey thanks!! I didn't know all this stuff!! Wow!! It would be nice to get a good price for the Scovies, I do understand about the low prices, but, I'll venture to say they will be higher then what people will pay here! I'm going that way anyway.....Thank you, you are a wealth of information! Oh and staples is pretty good, I have a good printer, just don't have the patience to work on my computer to get a card worked up, I get very frustrated and they never turn out the way I want them!!

Anyone with scovies with an extra blue, black, or chocolate duck with little or no white (and white only located on wing) I am looking for one more girl to add. Would prefer black.

rather than pay a consignment fee/percentage to an auction where they really cram (and I do mean CRAM) the birds together. Seeing yardbirds is part of why I haven't taken birds to auction. I'd feed them to my dogs first (dead, of course).

Well, off to buy a new cookstove, since the broken control module on the old one would have to be rebuilt and thus cost more than a whole new stove, not to mention taking a month with no stove
