We should have more than enough. Teresa has brought her crock pot too. And since I am bringing one, we should have a chance of having hot soup. I may have to beg Broody to lend me her kitchen if the crocks don't get the soup hot fast enough.

OH Bugged did you still have those 2 hens?

Just a head's up. My Brinsea On the Spot thermometer battery was dead, so I went to the website to order a new one. They are having a big sale plus there is a coupon code from Facebook for an additional 10% off including the sale prices. I decided to throw one of their brooder lamps in my order since it was on sale for $49.99 plus another $5.00 off. I've heard these save on electricity a TON over the usual red heat lamps. Anyway, if any of you have any Brinsea products on your Christmas list, the code is EcoGlow. OK, just reread the facebook post, and it says the code is good for candlers and brooders. Anyway, hope this helps someone save some bucks!

Just finished making peanut butter fudge, picked up a veggie tray from the grocery store and am bringing a case of bottled waters. I'll put the camp chairs in the car in the morning - DH has it right now in Seattle.

I am also bringing 3 EE cockerels if anyone is interested. Kaneke gets first pick since they are her grandchicks, then the other two are free to whomever for whatever. They are pretty though and so far, well behaved. They were born around September 1st so are just about 12 weeks old I guess.

CCG - you are welcome to ride with DH and I if you don't want to drive alone. PM me if you're interested - I expect we're leaving around 10 AM or so?

What does "dusting" the coop mean? Sorry to be so dumb. Mix it in with shavings? I have an 8 x 10 coop with pine shavings on the floor and a little DE lightly mixed in. Since I only have three birds, I scoop with a litter box scoop every day, so my shavings have not been changed yet. Do I need to do that? My three hens do not use the roost or the nest boxes. They are not too bright, I think. The only one laying is the black Orp and she lays on the floor of the coop in the same place every day. I have tried a cat litter box nest box, milk crate nest box, plus have three built in nest boxes. Have tried shredded paper, hay, and shavings in all of them. They will not even get in them.

I never knew chickens could be so complicated....or am I just simple minded?

Have you tried putting a dummy egg in the nest box and leaving it? I used real eggs. Just left an egg in 1 of the nest boxes for a few days after they started laying and it worked for all but 1 of mine. . Once they r laying take the egg out of the box though or it will rot!

She sleeps under the nest boxes in a lil 6 inch tall space and even lays in here somehow??? The world may never know!!! She cannot even stand or barely squat but she can still push out an egg....

I have golf balls in all the nest boxes, but found some wooden eggs in my craft supplies today that I am going to put out tomorrow.

Sorry I can't help you with the bug issue as I haven't had to treat my chickens yet and it sounds like you're being challenged from all directions right now!

What I can tell you is that a lot of folks who make their own liquors, olive oils, vinegars, etc. come to us at Vino Aquino for their bottles. We sell small 375 ml. or 500 mil. bottles which work really well for home made gifts. We also have the T-corks available to seal them and sell the shrinks for the top if you want to get really fancy. Just letting you know there is another resource if you're ever in Tacoma.
Hope the other issues get straightened out for you soon!

I thought about your wine shop, but couldn't remember the name. I may have to make a trip to Tacoma if my Bailey's turns out better than my Alton Brown cocoa did! Thanks!

ok, I have five folding chairs IN the car ... for people weighing less than 200 pounds ...
Dana, your flashlight is in there too

I didn't get the chance to wash out the pet kennels, but will put a spray bottle of bleach solution in, in the morning, and figure there must be a hose available at the fairgrounds ... let me know if you think you'll need to use one

may put a crockpot in, in the morning too, if I remember

DS says there might be a safety issue with the propane tank I was planning to bring; he suggests we bring it later, in the open trailer, rather than inside the car ... we'll check it out in the morning since we are driving him to work in Lacey before we head for Chehalis
