Go with your heart. I just got a flock of Icelandics, because it is what i want to do. I have had to part with some lovely birds, but they are all going to good homes where they will be appreciated.

When you do something you really enjoy, you will do it better. And, even if not recognized now, who knows what the future will bring.

My Icees aren't a recognized breed - I don't care!

ME! Wait, how big of a flock are we talking?

There is one blue roo, 3 black hens, and 3 black/lav split pullets. BUT the breeder that I got the black/lav split eggs from this spring has first dibs on the splits. She lost all her Smith girls in a heat wave this summer, and had already asked about at least one of the split girls. I'm already waiting to hear back from her...

The blue roo is "Poseidon" you may have seen his pic on here several months ago, he is Cree lines. One black hen is from pips&peeps, 2 black hens are directly from Wayne Meredith. The splits are from crystalcreek, they are from Paul Smith hens with a Harry Schaffer lavender roo.

I can post pics again if you want....

As much as I want these, I really don't have the room, but I am sorely tempted to take Poseidon. I have 2 black am hens from Chickielady (I think they are Cree lines too) and I have two black split for lav Am hens I got from Monicas. I think I will hold out in case anybody else wants them, but keep me posted. We are making a quick trip to Vancouver WA on 12/20, overnighting and coming back on the 21st. So I COULD potentionally pick him up then if you were willing to come up and meet us there.....hmmmm. Let me sleep on it!!! Are your Bantam Fav's laying any better? That might persuade me too!

Was it the arm in there that broke? I had one break last spring too. I had a very full incubator, and half the eggs rolled out in the middle of the night. Needless to say, I was NOT happy! I emailed them and they said I needed a new part, which they charged me for and I remember the shipping for it being a bit excessive. I forgot the name of the part. I took a photo of it and included it in my email to them.

Good luck with your hatch! We thru in 5 of our Serama eggs in with the Bantam Fav's from Cloverleaf. I'm very impatiently waiting until Tuesday, Day 10, to candle!!!

DH took off the cover on the motor. Mine just kind of got stuck in place. The external arm is not broke, the DH says the motor inside is still turning, it is some little part that is not moving the mechanism for the exterior arm.

Poor baby...send her my way...
....Hey you need to corrup/convince Sadie.

Oh no she does not need to corrupt Sadie! I don't need any pocket chickens! (Who may or may not be measuring flight cages and wondering how she can fit better perches inside of them and wondering what size nests would be needed and if little roosters make too much noise to be heard from inside the house for city neighbors...)

I think you should be working on what you're passionate about, no matter how long the project. If anyone is going to make something of those BBS LF Faverolles, it's going to be you. Just look what you've done with the Salmons.

My only concern would be how you felt about giving up the pretty turquoise eggs. Beyond that, I think you know what your heart is telling you.

would you like directions? I am not hard to find at all!!! and yes 4H mom is checking, just keeping her options open you know...

Yes, I checked this morning and I think I have a taker! Dad was ok but they were going to check with Mom to make sure and get back to me! I think they live out in Sultan, so I will try and figure out how to get her from you and out there if it's a go!

that would be totally awesome, she is in the house in a crate now lol. you can give them my number if you want and they can come up here and get her directly if they like.

I don't think you even need a flight cage. Lots of people use a small dog crate. Put a roost in it. It is a house chicken...it is out when you are home. Don't spend a lot of money on a flight cage (those are for big birds who actually fly - right?). These guys are more followers....Bumble followed Alisha out of the bedroom into the front room this morning while I was cleaning cage.
