FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- A King County grandmother is kicking off the new year with the search for a stranger who saved Christmas for her family.

A stop to fuel up at a Federal Way gas station could have meant no Christmas for the Perkins family, as in the middle of the holiday rush, Margaret Perkins accidentally left her purse behind.

"Got home, discovered I didn't have my purse," Perkins said. "I had left my purse on top of the garbage can at the gas station."

Inside the purse were hundreds of dollars.

"Really, really, really upset because all of the money we had was in that purse," she said.

Perkins cares for her five grandchildren.

"Christmas for them was just totally gone," she said.

After a long night of worry, then next morning came a shock. Her grandkids said someone was at the door.

"So I jumped straight up and came running out to the door and and there was a young man standing at the door," she said. "And he had brought my purses...and he apologized for not bring the purse the night before!"

But in all the emotion, she forgot to get his name and she prays he'll hear our story.

"I just hope so, I really hope that he's watching 'cause I just want to hug him and just squeeze him again and tell him thank you so much," she said.

Perkins' granddaughter Sade said she would say thank you too.

"And I really appreciate it 'cause you didn't have to bring my grandma her purse," Sade Perkins said. "Some people would have just stole it."

Instead he stole their hearts.

"That young man was such a blessing," Margaret Perkins said.

I agree but my version of this has always been "It takes less time to do it right than it does to do it over! ! ! "

So very true!
In our case, getting it done at all will be a miracle!
We have to start stockpiling materials for the house, next month.
Once we untarp the foundation, we have to go like gang busters all the way up & roof, or at least have the roof decked so we can tarp it again.
I have a feeling it will be another long, long, long wet & cool spring like last year....hard to build in that weather.

It should go fast, though, providing we have all the stuff ready to go...

Edited to add:
