OK, I just watched the weather channel & local news is saying 70 to 80 MPH winds here on the coast tonight starting at midnight.
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeesh !!!

I thought it was just gonna snow !

From here all the way down the OR coast...hurricane force winds AND tons of snow~~~~~~~~~~~

OK back to getting ready for bed~~

You can pretty much bet your donkey that power is gonna go out...hurricane lamps ready ?
Flashlights?
A hen to keep the eggs warm ???

A record-breaking, whopping 10 inches of snow sit on the ground over here. By record though I just mean in the 11 years we've been here. For some of you that isn't much, for us it is a lot. Thankfully all that happened (bad) was one of our old trees split in three and the chickens are pretty upset, some of them very thirsty due to not trekking over to adequite water sources.

I'm bracing for tonight though. Seems I'm due for another 4-8 inches of snow PLUS over 20 mph of wind.

i think i have been surviving my first "blizzard"
back in leavenworth i remember once it dumped 4 feet in 1996. that was the only time i ever had a snow day (Cascade School District is well equipped)
at home even when snowing hard its like a snowglobe....

here in pullman... 30 mph winds with 46mph gusts...... and somehow we are still getting an accumulation of snow despite it blowing around.... I think this would be what i consider a blizzard (washington version, not the midwest definition)

the storm has taken a break for the moment.... i actually was aware when i quit hearing my windows howl and shake...

That probably would be me. I have 11 Swedish Flower Hens - 5 pullets and 6 cockerels. One pullet is crested and two of the cockerels. They are 5 and 6 months old now. No eggs yet but there should be soon.




This picture is of most of the boys about three weeks ago. They are growing up nicely.
