I want to eat at your house! I love sit down meals. No one here eats meals anymore. Either too sick or on the run or hates veggies or whatever so I rarely cook. When I do I eat it all myself. Tonight I'm cooking an artichoke. Maybe some brussel sprouts. The other nite I made some Gnocchi. First time I made it or ate it. Used potatoes from the garden and eggs. It was yummy. Made a Gorgonzola Cream sauce and salad to go with it. I'm the only one who ate it. Then I had it for Breakfast. The boys eat Costco chimichangas, cold cereal, sandwiches and chicken tenders. DH could eat beans, tortillas and scrambled eggs every day. They don't know what they are missing. At least they fix it themselves. They don't dare ask me to cook. They might get a vegetable!

geeeze, sounds yummy at your house too!
Momma (and Grandma American Maria Carnelli Cenini ) made/make Gnocci also...fun to roll on the little wooden board.
Grandma made raviolis & all her own pasta as well.
Love her cooking !
I do her salsa just as she did.
For those who do not know, Italians call their sauce "salsa: also.
We also had killer Chippiono.shellfish stew !
Veal Parmesianna...although I do not use veal, veal breaks my heart

Last summer our neighbor's wife got lung cancer, smoking her entire life, and in a few weeks was gone

Poor old guy packed up a few carloads of stuff & left for a retirement community.

he was broke, and cared not about anything left behind in the 4 bedroom home, barn & a double wide rental, and a single wide rental on his property.
Since then, he has returned to gather a few more things & came today to say someone had stolen the lawn mower & weed wacker and anything else there we are free to have.

Dh has been over there 2 X scavenging ...I imagine the bank repo guy will be there soon to put locks on, gut it out & put it up for auction.
Before he does, I just may go nab the washer & dryer in 1 unit.

The old guy left ALL the pretty stuff, cut crystal & touch me nots..I got a few nice pieces.
So weird the way one's entire life just is strewn about the place: scrapbooks, records, memoribilia.......tokens from opreas & vacations.pictures & slides from all those years.

Sad.

That is sad. Nice of him to offer you all of what he's leaving behind though.

Don't know what we'll do with an extra W&D and there is a fridge in each rental as well.........I wanted a wine friidge for hatching eggs...but these are big side by sides...no where to put them.

So last night I plugged in my Brinsea to get it warmed up to use as a hatcher for the Serama's. It seemed fine last night. I just realized the fan seems to be busted!!! ACK!!!! It's warming up, but the fan isn't blowing......I will be calling them tomorrow for sure. Going to post over on the incubating/hatching thread and see if anybody has a quick fix. ...........sigh.

Quote: Funny thing - we had the roast dinner last night too, the turkey (frozen, from thanksgiving) popovers, mash, Brussels sprouts, corn and gravy.

And tonight, Eggplant parm (yeah those poor baby veals).

And I love Cioppino - they make a really good one at the Sardine Factory in Monterrey.

Wish we all lived closer. Wouldn't it be nice if each one only had to cook one meal a week or less, and then we could each eat at each others' house. I mena, if you are cooking for one or two, may as well cook for a dozen.

Just saying . . .

Try hand turning it to see if it is not just sticky?
You have the worst luck with that thing!
last year the turning arm broke & popped the lid open ??
Now this?????
You need a good old reliable and CHEAPER GQF~~~wafer therm, runs sooooooooooooo excellent & so super easy to deal with than those digital things !

What we do at our house (mommas') is all us kids get something, as in a shellfish...........usually before Christmas as Italianos eat fish before christmas (supposed to be X-mas eve) but we each get some shellfish.like I would get 3 dungeness, marco would get 3# of steamer clams, Scott would get 5 # of XL prawns and 2 # of fresh mussels, Susana would bring Calamari (so we have rings) and razors.
In any event, Moma has the big pot going with salsa, and lots of yummy crusty bread (I cannot eat !) and she makes big red bibs for us to wear & napkins to match as she is a seamstress.

Table set with fresh grated Parmesana...lots of good wine (Dad has to have his favorite Pisano/Gallo) and we all arrive & wash our bounty & drop it in the hot salsa.
The house smells so yummy & so VERY Italian !
I have my Pinot, Momma likes white wine (or her martini)
This we could do...if some of us get together & all come to 1 home.
I do not have the room for alot of people , but I will 1 day!
Maybe we need to do this at your digs ?
Once the clams have opened, we dish & eat...it is messy, and oh so wonderful !

It spins when I blow on it. I can't see any reason that it wouldn't go.

Thinking it must be something electrical/computerized.....or something.

Unless someone offers me a quick fix, guess I'll just leave them in the LG with the other eggs in there that are 3 days behind.

Hi all, I know there are quite a few gluten free peeps on here. I just got some nice organic gluten free oat flour and since I am fortunate enough not to have any dietary restrictions, thought I'd offer it up if anyone here could use any.

PM me if interested.

Also, has anyone heard from Justbugged to see how she did in the weather? I think I still have her number here somewhere, not sure...
