X2 - wouldn't that be fun??? I LOVE to team cook...especially if there's wine involved

Oh, for the record, I'm making stir fried tofu with sliced portabellas and Japanese eggplant tonight. Tomorrow night's gonna be roast ham with all the fixin's. Doesn't beat CL's full on thanksgiving feast or CGG's gnocchi with gorgonzola cream sauce, though...

Any chance you could pop in from San Diego? It's not far. We drove once from San Marcos to Olympia, straight through, and in snow and ice. Course, by the time we got to Klamath, (detour 'cus of snow) hubby was seeing gremlins in bushes.
He only drove over two front lawns, and only once got the trailer stuck in a drive through - not bad eh

I'm thinking us BYC'ers really eat well, yours sound yummy - love those Japanese eggplants (expensive here right now, WHEN you can find them)

So last night I plugged in my Brinsea to get it warmed up to use as a hatcher for the Serama's. It seemed fine last night. I just realized the fan seems to be busted!!! ACK!!!! It's warming up, but the fan isn't blowing......I will be calling them tomorrow for sure. Going to post over on the incubating/hatching thread and see if anybody has a quick fix. ...........sigh.

dels has fans for incubators, probably not that hard to replace

Hi All;  I hope that everyone is recuperating from the storms this past week.  We had over 2 foot of snow up here and my birds stayed in their coop looking out the door as if to say "I am NOT stepping foot outside."  They were all very happy to see the Sun today.
I have 2 beautiful English orpington splash pullets that are just starting to lay.  I would like to sell them, if anyone is interested let me know.  They look a little rough cause of being a little wet, but they are healthy and happy birds.

those of you that like the english orps so much, these are two english pullets and should make some really nice blue babies.

well -- I'm BAAACK

seems the power went OFF again about 11 this morning ... we thought it would be just a short interruption

nope

7-1/2 hours later we finally have power again

DH saw them replacing a power pole, about a quarter of a mile away, but it must have been an all day job, digging a new hole for it, setting concrete, putting new crossbars on it, getting the lines all back up on the insulators, then setting it up

only supposedly 56 households affected so they weren't in that much of a rush

here's hoping the power stays on ... but we have the generator all fully fueled and ready, in case it doesn't ...

Dana/SadieSue, wish we could come watch your production, but gotta tie up loose ends here and pack for Maui ... figure out what needs to be done here while we are gone, and what we can reasonably take with us with only a carry-on apiece (plus the laptop computer cases)

Hawaiian Airlines does charge for checked baggage, and we have had ours go astray from back when the first bag went for free --- so we carry on only, or mail what won't fit in the cases

I feel just awful.

One of our little Serama hens went broody just before it turned nasty-nasty cold...So I brough her in the house and set her up in a rubbermaid tote and away she went...she was probably about 2 weeks in to it. I have the 3 chicks that hatched from the eggs that Cloverleaf gave me....those babies are right at 4 weeks old. They have been in their brooder box in the other room....well, company was coming up. So i figured I put the brooder box with babies into the "extra" room with the broody momma. Well, when I came home today, went to check on everyone (food and water)....(that room is also housing a cat that broke her elbow)...and Martha the hen was not sitting on the eggs and she was pecking at them.

I think that she heard the peeping babies (1 month olds) and thought hers were ready to hatch. She is not in the least interested now...they have been uncovered for quite some time...as they seem a bit cold..I am sure they are dead. I feel bad for Martha the hen.Time wasted. Thought she had babies...only to have no babies. How heart breaking.

Wow! What a week! Glad to hear that everybody made it through the nasty weather for the most part! :frow

Thank you CL & CR!!! It was nice to keep our BYC lifeline open! :highfive:

My duck pen collapsed but DD & I got it reposted & rewired yesterday.
Kent schools were still closed today because 29 of our schools still had no power so I had another day at home to clean up the mess!

Thank you to Jbear for keeping me company during the boring lockdown! ;)

Amazingly my father was able to find me a generator and get it rented all the way from Mexico! When I tried to find 1 everyone told me that they were sold/rented out! :/

We only had 2 gas stations that were open in the entire Buckley/Bonney Lake/Sumner area. It was a pain!

In my other house( that SD currently lives in) we were completely prepared for anything. However, I was not allowed to take any camp stuff when I moved, and his doors were not open to me during the storm.
I am going to have to start all over from the bottom and try to slowly restock my emergency supplies.

We still have lots of ice & some snow under it still all over. We just do not seem to be melting!

I want to see them!!!!

I need to get some photos of them. I did have some, but they were littler. I will get the daughter to help me tomorrow to get some photos...or maybe tonight if I get the energy....stressed day. Maybe you can tell the color of the one "brown" one....although I know she is not "brown"...I just don't know what to call her color though. I will get you photos.
