Thank You. Yes it was hard for me as well. I have never lost a chick before ( I have lost a few chickens to a chicken killing dog tho). This how ever was also the first time I ever ordered them in the mail. I ordered 10 cornish crosses n 5 RIR's n they threw in 10 Barred Rock males for extra warmth. The seemed fine all day n then I went to check early this mornin and the little girl was dead.

. Thankfully my husband knows I am a mush and took it out back n barried her before he left for work so I didnt have to. Hopefully I wont loose any more. At least not out of this batch.

Im sorry, its hard to lose them no matter how long we have them. I hatch and when I lose a chick I cry and it drives my Hubby crazy. Im one of those people who will try anything to keep them alive. Now my hubby has put a stop to it and says if its not right I need to let them go. Which I know is true but its hard..

Okay....I am going to try and load a photo. These are the Serama babies...I got the eggs from CloverLeaf. They are from Jen's roo Voltron. They are 1 month old TODAY. I really think they got some potential...The little cockerel...just showed his true colore (his comb all of a sudden appeared) just within the last week. He is stark white with the black on his back. The white pullet has a "yellow" head, but white body and the black saddle. And then there is the little brown....can anyone tell me what to call this brown? They all three stand much nicer when they aren't scared out of their little head...so they have squished themselves down and don't have tails up as good as they normally do. Just moved them into a bigger box today.

Zgoatlady ~ My questions is about the Barred Rock Males. I never had this breed before but from what I read they are a DP breed. Since I can not have roos because I am in the city, my husband wants to raise them up with the cornish crosses for the freezer. My question is tho how long does it take for a Barred Rock Cockerel to get big enough to dress? I know Cornish's grow alot faster and should only take about 8 weeks so I am assuming the Barred rocks would be about double that at 16 weeks? Im I close or way off?

Again sorry if I sound dumb, I am really a new be at this. I only got my first set of hens last April so please bare with me.

OK so right now the easiest way I know is What is in red, I copied then did quote then pasted that copy into the quote. Hope this makes sense I aint worth beans trying to splain this stuff in text!

I can't figure out how to either. Someone explain...I think CR tattled on HIMSELF.....

Reminds me of just the other evening...I was pulling the blankets up on myself, my fingers slipped off the blanket and I ended up "punching" myself in the face....felt like an idiot. I was glad no one was looking...

Ok so Ive never posted pictures, well not in a long time.
So here it goes.
Hobbs looked better before the storm but here he is.. I love him and as you will see he's the guy got to be in your face to see what your doing MOM..... To big to get in my face, creeps me out knowing what they can do to you. But I love him!!!

Omgosh he is one gorgeous hunk of rooster. He does really remind me of Hoss...

Do you have an alternative to Comcast for service? We're out in the sticks of S.D. county and went with a local provider after research showed that traditional internet providers had such spotty coverage that internet connectivity was horrible. Our ISP uses radio signals. He has a tower on his mountain-top property and anyone who's line-of-sight with him can be a customer. It's not brilliant - still slower than the U-verse connection I had in the city, which I loved, and tends to get really clogged up when it rains (wet tree branches hanging down in front of the dish) - but it sure beats traditional providers out here (inclusing Cox Cable and DirecTV) for speed and connectivity.

No, unfortunately there is nothing else....wish there was.
We have had AOL & MSN dial up that were about as fast as this stinker Comcast "high speed" internet & connected with TV service, it ain't cheap either !
I liked MSN the best for no-nonsense, AOL was more fun & had all the grahics & fonts...but was slower yet.
I have toyed with getting Direct TV/sat, but have heard they charge kind of like cell phone usage/by your minutes, and going over the alloted minutes cost "units" extra added to your bill like a big wet surprise !!!!!!!
