Sunflowers and corn. They go nuts over both.
Grow pumpkins. Seeds are great for them health wise.

Ah, now I can quote.
My input here is Sweet Meats squash.if I cut a pumpkin & cut a sweet meat, the birds eat the sweet meat in just a few days.......and let the pumpkin lay and only peck it after no more sweet meats.
Easier to grow than pumpkins also !!!!!!

It's funny at night all you can see is these BIG glowing white rumps...............

I went into DH's Forte` (the man cave) looking for a paint scraper.......and there on his work bench is a small TV her got from next door...and VCR/DVD burner...wires everywhere....so on the TV screen is a live pic of our yard, as veiwed from the radish bed in my garden/ WTH ?
So I went out & looked, and there in the radishes is a red Folger's coffee can with a white wire running from it, back to the TV.
I peeked inside, and there is my web cam..........
He can set the cam up where ever he can reach !
he also hooked up some gismachey that records on the DVD if there is any movement !
Like a motion sensor !
Then he can play back the DVD & see what it was !
last night he reported there was a mouse ran out from under the dog house & that the dog slept all night & never came out til 7 AM....and there was a moth that flew around the web cam's eye for a while.
Good to know !

The sheer idiocy of people feeding coyotes is beyond my abilities to understand. For one important thing, they get bigger when well fed and then need to eat more to support their body weight, and even more importantly, females have larger litters when well fed. When I first moved here we had foxes and ringnecked pheasants, and larger ground-nesting birds like meadow larks, and my mostly outcoor cat could hunt rabbits to his heart's content (he died of bone cancer, for the record) then one of the new neighbors started feeding coyote pups and all the ground level diversity disappeared.
Coyotes, and people who subsidize coyotes, are not good neighbors.

X about a billion. Sheesh.

the persimmons wine is really delightful! I took the cap off yesterday - I thought of giving it to the chickens because it smelled so good. Then remembered it was alcoholic so I didn't think that was too good an idea. Don't want the chickens becoming alcoholics

Drunk chickens...that would be a viral video!
