Well I guess there is no one out there in Cyber land, huh ?
I just had yet again another awesome hatch of Javas & Buckeyes...all in a tub with the 3 Chantecler from Clover...and they are so adorable !!!
Took 6 juvie Bucks out just now & stuck them in the Buck coop...surprise in the morning!!!
Now the big hatch from 1/12 (RonB's babies) and alot of Javas will be moved over....and shots given (Mareck's) in a few days.
The turkey eggs I set look like they are doing OK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Though I have not seen 1 hen lay in the last week (since the rain came back) how do they just turn off production ?
They were laying great when we had that 2 weeks of sun~~~~~~~

I was texting T-Hi about an awesome computer that I was looking at that was on sale.....and she looked at the link & agreed it was great but although it had 6GB Ram & a huge HD...it only had a i3 processor and it would not work for her.
I asked her why & she said cuz she programs music for her DJ work...her Lap Top will have to have a bigger processor, like a i5 or better, a i7..........................

So, I did not get it.

So onward we go & continue to look for MY
he.gif
ideal computer !!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as my Birthday luncheon today...............went to Mom & dad's and installed a wafer thermpstat on his hot frame we made for him.
We took the hot frame to him last Sunday, and Dad added the sand over the heat tape & plugged it in & was wowed !
He put the wireless sending unit in the hot frame & could sit in his easy chair & watch the temps////////
So Wednesday he got sterile starting mix in a flat & seeded with some leftover last year's Basil seed...and yesterday the sprouts popped up !
My Mom was so happy (Italian !!!! )
I told them they can now grow Basil or whatever year round...even in snow !
Dad is looking for (as are we) more aluminum framed dual paned windows, so we can make more hot frames !!!
Anyone seeing any, please let me know !

Also looking for a Chevy or GMC 1/2 to 3/4 ton pickup, long bed or flatbed in good condition but blown motor or blown entire drive train.

Please let me know...Einstein (DH) is driving me crazy with odd ball inventions & needs a serious good to do that we can haul lumber for our house coming up shortly here !!!!

Stupid hawk got a couple of my juvenile birds today. The girls decided to go scrounge by the well house instead of staying in their normal safe areas. *sigh* And all the juveniles haven't been ranging near the adults, who are paranoid, lately. Just makes me pull my hair out.

Maybe I just need little chickens. A big covered run will give them more freedom than it does the big ones. DH gave me The Eye over that idea, though. I don't think he even cares for the silkies because of their size.

And the Rocks are bullying all the other birds and will have to go. First two started pulling everyone's feathers at the beginning of the week and I separated them. I can't even put another Rock with those two without them going for her. Something is just wrong with these hatchery birds. I think two out of the six are mild mannered. Just frustrates me.

OK, I'm done ranting about chickens.

I got to say WOW to Chicken Rustler. Way to get the bad guy!

Hi everyone =) I'm excited to go to see Sadie Sue's play today =) Going to be fun!

Yay! Someone must've been dancing cuz the hens started laying again about a week ago! Thank you for whomever it was that was doing the dance (and maybe sunlight)- we had amazing cinamon french toast yesterday morning.

Yay! Glad you're getting eggs!

I have been in contact with my DSL provider and they are working on it. What has happened is they have sold more than they can provide.
The knife guy ahh just another day. Not the first time and probably won't be the last.
I was only 15 when I first took down a bad guy (adult) at gun point ! Then the dummy made threats againts me in court. The judge told him you better stay away from that kid. He carries a gun and will shoot you.

Wow! Watch out when CR pulls out the pink cape!

Or is it a pink bandana?

I hope with those slow speeds and knowing they oversold that you're getting discounts for your DSL.

Good morning All!
I have a cold so I decided not to go to yoga this morning.
I thought it would be more restful to hang out on BYC!

Hope you're feeling better!

Illia, I don't have any photos yet, but I got your splash Araucana and a wheaten Ameraucana. I had just reported this past week that both are laying! The Wheaten lays some particularly nicely colored eggs. I will try to get pics of them this next week and post/send them to you. Both girls are fully integrated into the flock, the Araucana has decided she doesn't need to be such a bully anymore and has calmed down. The Wheaten is a little submissive and gets shooed away from treats by the others which results in her making a LOUD fuss until I toss her treats directly, so she's learned to speak up for herself!

So glad your Araucana has stopped being a bully. And yay for the Wheaten making herself heard :) Cute!

okay, saw the chickens today, beautiful mutts ... one is basically red with a lush black "shawl" of hackle feathers, one is mottled white/silver with buff lacing and at least four colors in the tail feathers, and one is basic gold duckwing EE but hard to tell because she's gone broody, sitting in back corner of nest box just GLARING
rant.gif

typical Maui chickens, somewhat smaller than LF, slightly bigger than bantam; mama was a silver duckwing EE, papa could have been any one of six roos; as chicks several of them were marked similarly to Barred Rocks, those must have been the baby roos that went --->
gonna go get some fertile BLUE eggs from a friend of mine here, put those under that broody (the three of them have been laying pale beige-brown and pale pink eggs) to get a few chicks, add to the genetic diversity -- maybe wander down to the local Del's, see if and when they are getting day old EEs (of course they usually label them as Americanas)
idunno.gif

also check out chicken feed prices -- they can free range here and get all sorts of bugs and weeds -- I'll pull up the Spanish needle that has been infesting the upper yard where they don't go; they love it and it gets those tenacious seeds OUT of the way
gotta go find some sand too; I've found that it keeps coop and run so much cleaner, to layer in sand and scoop the poo out .. right now the coop floor is your basic dirt-and-leaves
if anyone needs fertile EE eggs to hatch, I'm sure DS would let you have some, but my lot mostly produce greenish-blue eggs, not bright blue ones; obviously I can't fly back from Maui to collect and distribute them !

Love hearing about your chickens on Maui and hope you were able to bring the camera so we can see some pictures of your beautiful yard!

Im a serama mama to the brahma- The serama is 4 weeks and the brahma is 4 hours old. Size does matter! lol

Oh how adorable!!!

Our Saturday was interesting.
Good part is, DH and my oldest and youngest DD's had a Tae Kwon Do Tournement, and youngest won first place sparring and second place in her pattern! Oldest DD won 2nd place in sparring!

Bad part, our new 3 mo old puppy started having diarhea last night right before we went to bed. I was freaking out thinking of all the nasty possibilities! I've heard just awful stories of Parvo and had it in my head that's what she had. But she's better now, and after reading the symptoms list, I'm positive that's not what she had. Up until this last week, we have been taking her out on a lead in the front yard for potty. Starting this last week, we've been letting her out into the fenced back yard with Toby, our older dog. I think she must have eaten something she shouldn't have. She only had two bouts of it, but I was up all night rushing her outside everytime she stirred! She ate her lunch and dinner with no problems and seems active and happy now. Scary stuff though!

So since I stayed home to watch the puppy instead of going to the tournement, I got the house clean! Whoo hooo!
Tomorrow I hope to go out and play with the chickens!!!

Hope everyone else is having a great weekend!!!

Congrats to your DDs! Sorry you weren't able to attend the tournament though. And I do hope you get to play with chickens today!

Look at this picture my sister posted on facebook. The man sitting down is MY DAD! He helped develop the FIRST personal computer. OMG, I never knew that. We were very young then and even when we were older at the time he died we still didn't have a computer in the house and he had been working on some other computer thing Home computers were still years away. Wow, no wonder my High School aptitude test put computer programmer at the top of the list. I remember when I shared the results of that test with him I said "no way". I could never sit in an office all day everyday. Dad never said a word. He already knew that and why he started a ranch several years before. I really miss him.

Congrats to your girls and boys! They sound like amazing athletes.
Puppies always seem to get into something that gives them squirts. As long as she's still eating and drinking, I'd bet she's fine. Scary when they're sick, though. What kind of puppy is she?
