Well I had a very frustrating day.

sadly that is pretty much the same I have heard from other folks about paws... sorry you went thru all that trouble. I could write a book on how badly the rescue business has gotten lately :(

Have you guys looked at adoption prices now? some prices are more then buying a purebred dog from a reputable breeder!

Upping their protein would do more good.

What can I give them for added protein? I feed Purina Layena and then Scratch Grain along with bread, oatmeal, fruits n veggies.

You can use things like lard/seed blocks you can make... scrabbled eggs (i know it seems wrong!) for treats use things like black oil sunflower seeds or something else high protein... don't use corn.
Lard blocks are the easiest... get a plastic block tray, melt lard, add in things like ground nuts, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, etc etc mix well, let cool and set out for birds to eat. Watch lard block vanish in no time flat!

Well I have confirmed flights, and I have officially adopted Jet. He is a Black Russian Terrier.
It's fascinating how well everything has worked out to be able to adopt Jet.

Well I still need to book the rental car, and go buy a crate big enough for Jet. ttfn

JB, he looks wonderful, and healthy too! I love big dogs.

He looks wonderful! I will be shopping for a deathrow dog that does not cost a fortune when my pup passes away. due to my hearing/sight I have to have a dog with me when I sleep.... or you could have a party in my bedroom and I'd never know. I love big dogs and tend to get the trouble makers that are gladiator breeds like rott, dobbies, shepards, ridgebacks, etc.. average 90-100 lbs. I then train them to be social and submissive to small animal and children/people.

Well, I think you know how badly I want to remove 'certain' PM's from a 'certain person'. I'm not hiding anything just sick of looking at them or simply knowing they are there is extremely irritating. Maybe unlimited PM's is not such a great idea. Maybe the only way to get rid of them is to close my account. But with my recent record I'm sure BYC won't mind.
NO please don't do that ! We don't want to see you go away.
Sorry I forgot about those messages. please forgive me!

Now I am praying that I am not in over my head. I have had these same feelings before, when I have been taking on a very large dog with an unknown personality. The shelter in Mesquite has been fabulous to work with, but then I think that they only have a total of 4 animals in their shelter right now. lol

Jet sound like he just needs to be taught who is the boss, and then he will need a job to do. He is going to be altered on Friday, and the plane leaves at 9:05pm Saturday. So I am really hoping that he won't be feeling up to his normal bouncy self for the flight.

There is a Blue Russian/Bobtailed cat at the shelter also. He speaks to me in the picture of him. Does anyone one have a home for him? I really don't need another cat given that I already am responsible for 5 cats. Here is the link to him. http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/22264156 He looks like a very healthy and confident cat.

I really appreciate the feedback about the shelter. It's good to know that I am not alone with this experience. The shelters must adopt out some of the animals, just not sure who. Most of the time I don't even think to bother with shelters. I know that I don't want a puppy, or else I would have simply gone directly to a breeder. I do know that over the years, I have rescued a number of animals that being dumped on craigslist. I have yet to have any of them placed in a shelter. I have always found them good forever homes, and I have always been willing to take any of them back if need be. It's fascinating how well everything has worked out to be able to adopt Jet.

YAY I am so happy for you and Jet. I hope you guys get along well and have many happy days together.

I had a puppy once. . .

. . .who turned out quite big and wonderful. . .

I would love to have another like him . . .

He looks like a wonderful little puppy dog. I agree that I love the big dogs. My boys have been cuddly teddy bears. I know for a fact that Puppy knew that he was smaller than one of those nasty little dogs. I may call them nasty little dogs, but I love them to death also. It's just me, I think, but I adore extremes. There isn't anything better than a dog that is simply massive and a three week old Yorkie.
Your puppy reminds me of my first big dog. My guy was named Bones. I will have to look for a picture of him.
