Quote: Sorry to have to disagree; I come from a country that was ruined by unions. All that unions do is protect the "senior" workers, even if they aren't very good, and do not in any way elevate the workers who do better than others. I still think a "meritocracy" is the best way for a civilization to survive.

and, it has been my experience that "most" (not all) people who prefer unions are those who could not survive without them.

I've a question for about the coop I intend to house my gals in.
It's an old tool shed built about 14 years ago. I intend to move it to a different location in my back yard and redo the entire thing. (really needs it done)
I want to wrap the building (it's 8 x 12) to prevent moisture, at least as much as I can, and I was thinking of using 15# roofing felt. Would there be a problem with that due to the fact that the chickens will have access to the black paper? If so do you have another recommendation?

How's your roo doing?

Me ? As in mine ?
You talking to me ?

The Orloff was turned into the layer coop yesterday & immediately decided to fence fight...but stopped after I scolded him.
Since then he has been very nice, and sure is a pretty boy.
I did not intern him in quarranteen as he was one of your birds & trust you~~~~~~~~~~~

He is gorgeous !! And perfect for my girls !!

I would NOT use the paper the birds will most likely tear it up and maybe eat it.
When you say to "to prevent moisture, at least as much as I can, " Do you mean to keep it dry in the coop or to protect the wood on the outside ? Keep in mind you need to make sure you have plenty of ventilation.

Thanks Robin, but I have to regretfully decline. I have to see the doctor this week to schedule some shoulder surgery, followed by some months of p.t., so hard as it is, I'm not going to succumb to more chickens right now. I just want to get all healed up before taking on any more projects.

Ah, the rotator cuff...best wishes for a smooth surgery and speedy recovery, and as with Ron, please let us know if we can help you with anything!
