So did you feel this show at Monroe was better than Stevenson last April?

One of the issues here::: for us exhibitors is not the same issue with you as a craft retailer.
You are looking at the """SHOW""" with different eyes than we do.
You look at it as how much $ you can make, we look at it as how much $$ it is gonna cost, and for what ?
It is (Stevenson) also out in the middle of NO WHERE and that has alot of folks saying NO.
We also do not have a trailer to live in while there, and it is a costly venture to deal with a 2 day show, requiring a motel, etc...not to mention WHO IS GOING TO BE HERE AT HOME to take care of the livestock left behind for 2-3 days?
Just giving my comments here~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'd love to show there, guys having been e-mailing & practically begging me...................offering $$$ for best Java (how did he know I has Javas ?) How did he get my e-mail address ?????????????????????
But if I had $$$$$$$$$ for a motel room, and a seperate car...heck yes. I would love to go, I'd love to go to the Ohio Nationals !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But I can't.

Yeah, it's way too far to Stevenson for me and I wasn't that impressed with it last year when I went. It was close to 7 hours for me and just not worth it to me. I'm tempted for Kennewick, though...it's about 4 hours.

Sooooo, tell us about Kennewick !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I seriously would LOVE to go east !!!!!!!!
I miss the sage brush & all...............................Idaho girl here !!!!!!!!!!!

Oooo... color me envious. I love the blues and that's one color I don't have in my flock yet. I have a black and a lavender from Pips N Peeps and just picked up a silver of hers for a friend yesterday. I'm saving all the silvers eggs to hatch at the end of the week because she suggested they will be fertile. I was trying to hold off hatching until May but I can't stand it anymore.

I'm not that strong!

Happy Hatching - looking forward to pics!

Actually, the blues are already hatched and in the brooder.

Here is a picture of them in their traveling box when we first got home yesterday. I'm eagerly waiting to see how many turn out to be pullets. Maybe I will have to bring you one!

Glad he could help and I'm sure it made him feel good to help and feel like a part of the group.

He is part of the group!
Terry was great, fun and a good sense of humor, I can see why you plan to keep him!

I also really liked CR's spouse Diane too, what a sweetheart!
And of course, CL's Gary is fab too.

Quote: I understand what you are saying. I looked and Stevenson is only 21 miles farther from your town than Monroe. BUT because it is coop out Sunday yes it would mean an overnight. for this I really am not looking at it for sales I am looking at # of birds. Of course the #'s is just what I have been told by show workers. I have not counted them. Yes I look at the POTENTIAL $$ I can make. It's always a roll of the dice.

What I was trying to understand is why exhibitors might feel that a show that (according to what I was told) has less birds is better than a show with more.
I DO NOT WANT this to turn into a big ugly I am just trying to understand the view of others. I am not an exhibitor so I have no clue.

Just wanted to say it was great fun yesterday seeing BYC friends I've already met and meeting those I hadn't before. Everyone was wonderful! Beautiful birds, nice folks, yummy lunch, great way to spend a Saturday!

I came home with two of CR's little metal chicks (surely sold over 14?!) and now wish I had bought more because they are so cool. Also got my six Ameraucana chicks from Pips N Peeps and two pullets and a new feed bag tote from CL.

Congrats to all whose birds won awards. I do have to specially congratulate WA4-HPoultryMom's girls, who pretty much swept the showmanship classes! Nice going Tamara!

Thanks for this AWESOME PIC. And BTW Quincy really likes his pie. He was very nice and shared a little bit with DW and I and it is very good. Thanks

That was very generous of Quincy to share his pie! Glad it was good. You'll be happy to know none of the eggs used in it were white. I'm saving the white ones for admission to Ron's party in July.
