Hi guys... I hope everyone enjoyed some sunshine today. Was a busy day here butchered 5 more chickens got the plucking part down now just gotta figure out the gutting. I have 4 more to get done tomorrow and then I am done with this batch. Then I built a small green house for my sprouts and put them outside and planted a few hanging baskets. I cant wait for spring.

That video you posted and said you wanted that set up? There is a part 2. In part 2 he shows a really nice way for gutting.

I just asked the DH....He works for city of Okanogan...told him I could come get some after he puts them out for whatever. He did not like that idea. Said I could buy them at Oxarc (local welding place). I thought it would be easier to just steal them from the middle of the road.

Nope not at all, I am saying that some people (not anyone here of course!) get them because they are medium size, and think they can toss them out in the back yard, don't socialize them, and never give them a job. THEN they become insane, biting, neurotic freaks. Not the dog's fault, the owner's fault.

Any dog of this "purpose" will do this if not "used". I have heard of people getting border collies for apartment dogs then upset when the dog tears up the rug or couch. Give me a break. These are beaufiful dogs...but they need a job. BTW...I am NOT KNOCKING Aussies or border collies - they are some of my favorite dogs....well right up their with blood hounds. Neighbors had a wonderful border collie, named Rodeo. She was absolutely gorgeous. Never gave her attention, never gave her a purpose. She started chasing cars and, yep you guessed it, got hit. That was such a nice dog. Idiot neighbors.

they were so CUTE!!!!\

Oh, CL I was asking DH about buying some turkey eggs from you to raise a few turkeys to butchur....he is afraid he would get attached and be unable to kill. Geez, he is such a city boy. I really want to....but I don't have the room to keep on any "pets" he decides to befriend. I want to EAT them.

Should I wait to put the mite stuff on my chickens till after my broody hatches her eggs? I don't see any but my easter eggers are molting again. And one is getting peeked a little. I am also thinking of deworming them as I am only getting one maybe 2 eggs a day.

Yeah I have watched a bunch of videos. The problem I am having is when I cut open I get the green stuff. I have tired cutting just the skin but it seems like every other one I do I get the green stuff. I have only done 6 have 4 more to do I guess maybe I just need practice.

Amen, Jeannine! I volunteer with Aussie rescue and most of the "issues" we see from dogs are because someone made a poor decision based on size/appearance or on the lifestyle they wished they had and not the one they actually have. Often people refuse to believe how high energy and busy Aussies are, so I bring Quinn over. He's very well trained and obedient, but also emits more energy than a nuclear reactor. Then they get the picture.

Real working dogs are very sane, with good judgment and excellent problem solving skills.
