Hellow everyone!!!! I am in Omak, and am super excited to have found this site! I found it when I was researching the idea of getting chickens! Well here I am. A Stay at home mom with 2 adorable children, a husband, 2 dogs, 3 cats, way to many fish and 4 baby chicks! We have two Ameracaunas, a Rhode Island Red and a New Hampshire Red. We started with the Ameracaunas adn found out we could have 4 chickens so went and got a couple more but they were out of what we already had. That is just fine though. We are just wanting chickens for eggs and for entertainment! We are already attached to our 3 week old babies! I can not wait to share and learn! Soo much fun with our lil Peepers. The first two were named by my kids. My daughter is six and named hers Bella, my son is 8 and named his Green Lantern Girl, I just named our two Reds, we got today and decided on Thelma and Louise. Not overly original but I think its cute.

Right now they are enjoying their comfy spot in the house until they are ready to move outside. :) I can not wait for that! Ha Ha!

Well I know for sure that Greta the Lakenvelder is laying a white egg, and the Madams Crevecoeurs are laying also. It's possible that one of the other hens could be helping the other ladies out too. At this point I don't think any of my hens are laying daily. I only have very rare breeds. Even some of the hatchery birds have turned out to be rare breeds. I think I have at least one Barnvelder, that I bought thinking it was a Wyandotte.

Oh my goodness! Those BLRWs are so beautiful! How do they lay? You are tempting me to get more chicks...

My three RIRs just came today. They are peeping and happy as can be. They all ate and drank right away, so I couldn't really be happier (except if maybe I already had my three EEs!).

My wyandotte hen laid very well before I sold her so I think they will lay just fine.
I'm sure someone else has already chimed in....

reading and catching up been outside working all day.

From what I've read, Wyandottes are pretty good layers. That's why I took a chance on 3 straight runs from TSC a few weeks ago. They are also supposed to be dual purpose from what I've read.

Anyway, I posted on the Michigan thread that a Cooper's hawk managed to get into my coop on Sunday and took down a chick. It was my male Silver Laced Wyandotte. The 2 that are left are pullets and I hope they mature to egg laying status.

WOW, ChickieLady! Adorable!!! How many did she hatch?

She sat & hatched 11......and lost none, but I gave her about 6 more jersey Giants I hatched in the incubator.............LOL as long as they are black ...she loves me & lets me handle her babies...MAN it is hard to not step on them...they whiz around like bottle rockets !!
