Well, I was a very good girl & stayed off line all day yesterday and counted every stick in the house plans, headers, studs & all so we can order lumber soon.


Today I am supposed to get to work on the hen painting for the Buckeyes..............after that comes the Cock painting.
Teresa, the T-birds are doing great & eating like the cutest fuzzy little piggies.

Tonight is Sweet & sour chicken, egg foo young with shrimpies & stir fry veggies, and DH gets a few egg rolls.

Well, I better get myself back to work here...............later peeps !

How do I go about finding if Pierce County has 4-H? And how does one get their child involved? My gf is considering helping her grandson get into 4-H... Oh, maybe I should PM WA4-Hpoultrymom. Duh.

today is a sad day. Hubby's bird dog managed to kill a few of my chickens and one of my brand new runner ducklings. I am still counting who I have left. I caught the bird dog after he pulled one of my young speckled sussex hens through the wire fencing and was in process of getting his fill. shooed dog away and checked out my baby... one leg was tore off and a wing. poor thing was still breathing so I had to put her out of her misery. Would not have been right to make her suffer like that. Dog got chained up and talked to hubby at work. He says dog is going. Sad but necessary. And since my friend's flock of birds is in with mine it makes it hard to see who all is there of mine. I am taking a break before going back out and seperating the 2 flocks so I can get an accurate head count. ugh!!!!!!!!

Looks like my gf's broody hen is still hatching those babies! Out of the 7 good eggs we put under her, at least 4 have hatched. Yesterday I saw 2 Dorking chicks and today there are 2 Salmon Faverolles. Looking pretty cute!

She had to help a couple get back up underneath their momma this morning -

I went for a drive in my car earlier when DH got home; took the kids to Reber Ranch to check out their day-olds...oh my stinking cuteness!! I can't believe how much mine have grown, I didn't even remember how tiny they were...and mine are only 4.5 weeks old! Anyway, I got some more shavings for the coop, and some Scratch and Peck Naturally Free Grower to start transitioning our girls in a few weeks; I'll probably start mixing it in with their chick starter at about 7 weeks and just up the ratio until they're fully transitioned; I know that whole grains are better but also harder to digest, so I figured going from Purina chick starter to something much more natural might take a little time and a lot of grit!

Quick question: What size waterer is a fair size for 11 chickens? I was thinking 5gallon hanging waterer and should only need to refill about 2-3 times a week? I have an 11lb feeder as well and I think I read that I should only need to refill that (for 11 chickens) about twice a week.

Oh, I don't know if you were Platinum RFF.
I probably shouldn't answer 2 questions in 1 post.
I'm still trying to figure out why my posts say I'm Platinum and Gold Feather. The Platinum expired in Jan. My badges have been messed up since the conversion.
