I always toss them and they have never called us before.

I was under the impression that 'they' only sent those info forms to folks with acerage in rural areas.how on earth did they 'find' you Ogress when you live in a developed comminity ?

I can't wait to see the photos of "Momma" hen. I would let my broodies hatch some again if I needed more chickens. They are so fun to watch!

Well we are preparing for a long day to the big Oregon Poultry Swap. I hope the weather is good and I am able to sell LOTS of stuff. See yesterday afternoon on my way home from town my truck decided to strand me at the fuel stop. Seems the truck felt that it needed more attention than the $70 of diesel I had just poured into it's belly. Ooooohh heck no that just wasn't enough it wanted a $152 replacement starter or we weren't moving anywhere. So I managed to bum a ride home. Cook dinner for DW. Bum a ride back to town and borrow $$ to bribe the truck with said new starter. Then of course I got to educate the guy at the parts store. Seems he had no clue how to use their test bench. You would think I would get some kind of discount for that but NOOOO ! After 4 hours I had the truck fixed and was headed home. Then time to pack. Oooop's looks like those few last minute items won't get finished. Oh yes and finally all done and ready to get up and going at 4:30am and look it was only 12:30am.
I kinda think it's gonna be a long day!

Oh no !!!!!!!!!!!! Good thing the truck decided to quit where it did, instead of halfway to OR !!!
Thank goodness you have the knowledge to fix said grumpy truck !!!

I have never made liquid soap - but it's just hot process soap using potassium hydroxide rather than cold process using sodium hydroxide. If ZGoatLady doesn't make it already - I could order some potassium hydroxide and see what happens.

I'd check with you on a few recipes first, but if zGoatLady already makes it then I'd suggest checking hers out.

I have never seen her make it...last time I checked anyways.
I would LOVE Lavender liquid soap !!!!

No really I'm sorry CR, Diesels can be hard on starters, had an older 6.2 chev suburban, had to put a few in too!! Glad you gotter fixed!! Have fun at the show!!

I can be up for almost 2 hours now before the sweling starts so long as I don't lift anything heavy, sand when I groomed the dogs, I did have my leg elevated. It just felt good to be doing something useful for a change.

I had purchased nest pads that I asked the handyman to put in the nest boxes. I had been using shavings, (in the summer I use shredded paper, but the print comes off onto the eggs when the hens are wet. When someone told me my mortgage balance, I stopped using the paper!). Because the nests are built so they can be roll -out in case I get egg eaters, the shavings were very messy and were always spilling out into the storage room making everything a dusty mess. The handyman simply plopped the pads on top of the shavings! I meant for him to clean out the box and then put the pad in. Also, because my kids have been terrible about bringing the eggs in, there were a lot of broken eggs with chicken poop and shavings in them glued into the nest boxes. I cleaned them best I could with a scoop and a brush, but I will have to soak them when I do the big clean. I only did half the boxes. If anyone wants to help with the Big Clean, I will pay and have a BBQ. The high-school kids were grossed out at the thought of having to scrape chicken poo, and the $35 per hour handyman takes too many shortcutts. I took him off chicken duty. He is now painting. He's good at that.

I have all the stuff and recipe for those bath bomb thingies......and it is all in storage in CA.......plus I have no tub now.....

...............just a shower.
But I love(d) the way the bath bombs fizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and make such a great smelling bathtub to relax in.

I would reall y really like some real old fashioned lye soap like the recipe that used to be on the Red Devil Lye cans...............big blocky bars...love lye soap !!
