Robin, I think I've made my point pretty clear, It's not YOU, and I try not to judge anyone just because they are from CA, and frankly I knew when the subject came up that there were many people on here from there and that it might cause some friction. I was merely trying to help those who don't understand where the "attitude" was coming from. I hope that you have seen my past posts, that may shed light on that. I personally think your a great peep! I just know for myself why people feel the way they do. Frankly, I get sick and tired of people asking me if I get sick of the rain??? They lump all of WA together with Seattle!!

Be ok! It's not exactly the same but, you get my drift!
Hey, I understand Julie...I know that real estate prices went out of control because of the influx of people who could drop ridiculous amounts of money on land and homes, and there are some Californians (or insert people from anywhere) that are narrow minded, inconsiderate buttheads that make me wish we could spay and neuter humans. I just hate it when folks start treating me differently only when they find out where I'm from. Like Ogress was saying about the gas attendant, they go from friendly to instant rude and nasty. I'm glad you are not like that, and we can have an intelligent adult discussion here.

Besides, who else would understand spray painting a blue M on the back of a Buckeye, and like to rock out to Def Leppard?!

There are people who think the only place in Washington is Seattle, just as the only places in California are LA, San Diego or San Francisco, or Manhattan the only place in New York, etc. I happen to like the quote in your sig about travel being fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and so on.

I'd been keeping my mouth shut on this because I come here to enjoy talking about chickens and life, not get into arguments with folks I consider friends. I moved here from California because of my husband. I don't want to change this state, and to those who want us all to go back home, I'd gladly do so. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, but when people make judgments about me because of the state I come from without knowing anything else about me, that gets really old.

Agree 100%

I would guess that the majority of people don't care where you came from, and don't say anything. Why get miffed at a vocal few?

Well my RIR's have a new home now.

I can not believe my Louise was a Louis. I was really sad letting them go.. So now I am on the search for two new babies. The kids want two more EE's to go with the two we have so we shall see.. The local feed supply store said they are expecting more tomorrow. The husband says NO MORE CHICKENS! Ha Ha.. I bet I win.. lol he is out of town.

Our EE's went outside for the first time today.. They LOVED it! The cats were hilarious, laying right next to the run with their paws just sitting right into their, the chicks just teasingly walking close to them but just out of reach. I was laughing sooo hard!

But Jules, aren't people in WA lumping all of CA in the same boat? Sometimes it feels that way!

Not all of us. I think it comes down to personalities. Some people are welcoming. Some are not. Those who are usually get along with others wherever they go.

I was born and raised in Washington, and have lived here all my life with the exception of one year when I lived in California. I have no problem making friends here in Washington regardless of where they come from and I had no problem making friends in California. Everyone in California was cordial and welcoming to me. Even now, when we vacation down there - California folk always seem to be very hospitable.

Guess when I got my chickens? While my husband was in Eastern Washington hunting wild turkey. He wasn't too pleased with me - but, I'm pretty confident he's fallen in love with our babies just as much as the kids and I have. He never did get a turkey, but I got three chickens!

Edited: I meant to type "wasn't".

Well just to get it all out there, here's me (guess I never really introduced myself):
Daughter of God, I call myself a Christian and I hope to live for Him every single day in everything I do.
Home schooler to my 3 kids because the public school system is a joke and a serious disservice to American children, forcing indoctrination of false values that have ruined our country.
Home birther; birth is a natural event, not an illness. I'm thankful for modern medicine in the case of emergencies, but birth is not one, MOST of the time.
Cloth diaperer; I will not contribute to landfills by throwing hundreds (or thousands) of pounds of plastic and human waste to leech into the ground and make us sick for years to come; also, they're freaking cute! Who would use sposies knowing how cute and easy cloth is? LOL
Aspiring backyard homesteader; slowly but surely, we'd love to be entirely self sufficient. Starting with chickens, moving on to a huge garden, perhaps some goats, rabbits, quail, etc down the road. Thankful for the internet and lots of fantastic books to keep me growing in knowledge on how to sustain our family!
We also eat according to the Paleo diet due to gluten, dairy, and soy intolerances in all 3 of our children and myself. We LOVE living here in WA where it's extremely easy to get a hold of organic produce, grass fed meat, and tons of gluten free, dairy free, soy free alternatives.

OK that's it. Hoping I'm among friends here, I've enjoyed all the info and resources so far and the company ain't half bad too

I hope you are able to fullfil that dream!! :) Cant wait to get to know you more!!! I am sadly or was I should say a disposable diaper user Bad me.. But now I get everyone I know having babies clothe ones. :) They love them!! We try to eat as organic as possible, but we are big on our dairy and gluten.. We have tried to go without and just not my cup of tea.. lol I am sorry that your family has so many allergies I am sure at ttimes that can be hard to deal with, yet it also looks like you have it all handled :) Snazzy!! LOL!

The things we do to our husbands..lol There are tons of wild turkeys around where I live.. lol And ya my husband loves the chicks to.. lol I am always bringing animals home and i throw them on his lap and he just gets suckered in.. Ha Ha!

I tell ya - I can't wait until I have a coop built and the babies are old enough to not require heat. This whole thing of trying to get them out of their brooder and into the greenhouse (where it is a nice toasty 80-90 degrees on the ground) each day is for the birds. Their brooder is a 4 foot long dog kennel - and guess where they go whenever I go to get them?

Yep! To the back of the dog kennel! I get to climb inside the dog kennel three times every morning just to catch each chick.

Surprisingly, the Phoenix area has some animal friendly neighborhoods. there are lots of homes with an acre or less in town with horses and anything else allowed. When I first moved there I was surprised to see a flock of sheep in a front yard. There's a swath of land running east to west from Scottsdale, thru Phoenix and over to Glendale that allows animals. And many other areas with horses. that's why I was so freaked at not being able to have animals way up in the boonies with a fenced acre. The lady that complained didn't even live next door. She was behind and over a couple of acres. She even brought us a copy of the covenants from the 1970's or so. They were never filed or instated. She was a major pain in the a** .
