Hey CR guess what?? I have another B RIR:weee
Well I just spent three hours on the phone with a very experienced goat person!! Learned tons!! And have more homework to do!!  LOL!
I'm tired!!  :th   Glad the girls made it safe, which I know they will VF took good care of them! Happy coop building!!
Hopefully I will have kids soon!
OH and ya know what??  NO ONE HAS ASKED.....

WHERE WERE YOU WHEN THE MOUNTAIN BLEW???
What the heck peeps?? Did you forget what today is?? It's kinda like remembering WW2!!!   Ok, just kidding!  But, I can't help it, every year when I have to write that date, it just stays with me!!  :old

Asleep in a second-floor apartment on the Eastside hill in Oly; the blast woke me up, but I thought it was just my stupid upstairs neighbors slamming the fire escape door again. A year later when there was a caldera collapse quake in February the said upstairs neighbors ran out onto that fire escape, which had a 40 foot drop to the parking lot.

I have had one of those weekends where no matter what I do it takes longer and uses more effort than I think it's going to. Case in point: I went out to feed chickens and gather eggs, forst lap, and the dogs came with. No problem, except the gate into the orchard is not 4 week old baby EE proof, and apparently, for the first time in three years, neither is everything up at my cousin's place. One of his little (the black, which had been running with a group that looked like an illustratin for Blue, Black, Splash) came in and my elderly dog nailed him. I hobbled to the rescue (having stepped in a home earlier this week and unhitched my bad ankle, making my life tricky since a Girl Scout hike in 1981) and the idiot chick ran between two layers of fence, so I had to call my cousin's wife to get the walking wounded out of trouble.

So, yeah, just an example.

Now I need to go in the bedroom and fix my stupid closet slider which has fallen off the track for the sixty-gazillionth time (with new ways of fixing it several times).

Quote: lol I hear ya! I wanted to see the eclipse sooo bad, had out the welding hoods for the kids and I even..lol Oh well. My run is deffiantly going to be anything but perfect but I am doing it! I wanted the chickens so I will take care of them. i am sure they do not care that one post is slighty off center. LOL And if they do, well too stinkin bad.

Glad Babs seems to be doing better.. Hope her droopy wings are up and back to normal in no time!!!

What is the fair hold?
That's what the girls and I call the way you hold a chicken for 4-H fairs. Palm up supporting the breast, middle finger between legs, index and ring fingers around outside of legs (legs are hanging down--this provides some security for holding on). Other hand over the top of the back, securing the wings. Bird is held close to your body.

We are still learning this, so I wonder what changes as the birds grow, say, to Orpington, Cochin and Jersey Giant size? That doesn't concern us now because the girls are too little show those breeds.

I have listed 5 six week old Brabanter and Brabanter/Spitz cockerels on Craigslist for $5 a piece. If anyone is interested, let me know.

The chicken police came to a neighbor's house looking for their rooster. They don't have any. It's probably just a matter of time until whoever complained figures out I do.

Ahh, I will have to try this.
THANKS!

We pretty much finished up our Chicken Coop project yesterday (Repairs & Run)-- YAY!
Minus a couple little things we need to do, but least we were able to get them in - Sadly it's raining today now, so they cant go outside =(
So here's the Finished Coop-

Chicken Run area - 10x12

Inside the Coop 10x14... Left side will be nesting boxes when they are at that point

They LOVE the amount of space they have to Run & Exercise

Barred Rock was the first one out - Followed by a couple others - Rest were too Chicken to go out...hahaha

so far, they are very much enjoying the "space" they have to play around in & do what they do =)

Beautiful looking coop and run !!!! I see one problem MAYBE !!! I don't think you'll find your flock on the roost ladder on the right at night! I bet they will be on the top shelf on the left! they always look for the highest place. the bottom rung on the ladder is to low in my opinion
