Avoids possible frost bite. Not that is gets that cold most of the time. That and they are not like birds like parrots and all the little wild birds we see, they don't really grasp the roost and they like to rest on their keil bone(breast bone). Just my opinion. Take it or leave it.

But I really like your coop and run!

Quote: I am sorry if this sounds mean...but shouldn't someone call CPS and let them know? Maybe they could help. I mean...you do not even have gaurdianship over her...Your dad should be doing this and OBVIOUSLY he is not doing his parental job. Sounds to mee if CPS should get involved...she still is a minor.

That's awesome Sunbug! It's raining here way too much to work on anything today :( I really wanted to take a hack saw to the coop today and add more windows but I also don't feel like being outside sick, getting soaked.
I do not blame ya. It never really rained here. Just sprinkles every now and then. Yuck I hate sprinkles.. lol I did just manage to get all the wire on the run and the supports for the door on, so tomorrow after I go and get more screws I will get the door on and move the girls outside! YAY! My hand hurts soo bad though. Oh well. I am sure tomorrow it will really be hurting. ROFL! It is worth it to make the girls happy and to get rid of the chicken dust in my guest room. LOL next i will build the coop and add on to the run. yipee!

Ok So thanks to rainwolf I am on a mission ! ! ! Here is what I will be attempting to make. I already got one trampoline today and have a line on another out in Rochester (Mikey ! ??? )

Kind of cool looking! We have a trampoline but I think the kids would be really upset if I made it into a coop.

Help! I went out to the coop this morning and discovered that Babs, our Houdan has droopy wings, not flying/flapping. I've got her back in the house, and plan to give her some eggs and yogurt, electrolyte water. I don't observe any nasty butt or discharge around her eyes or nostrils. Her feathers have been coming in really fast, and the area around her breast is looking quite ratty with quills starting but fluff gone, and her wing primaries are really long. I think we're dealing with rapid feather growth rather than a disease, but if anyone has any more suggestions, tips, etc. please let me know! :) Thank you!
Being that you and I are "neighbors" .....depending on what you have witnessed...I would put her on some Corid. She could have Cocci. I have lost many birds to this before I learned a bunch of information on here. Is she fluffed up like she is "cold"? We have the song birds, Starlings, pheasant and quail running all around us (as I am sure you do too) and they can all carry this germ/disease.
