Thats so sad he doesnt take it upon their selves to control their dog. When I was 8 I was waiting for the school bus in my driveway and then neighbors dog came up jumped up on me and bit me in the face...I still have teeth marks in eye socket. I was found by the bus driver. Still scared to this day of dogs I dont know. But I what I do member is the neighbor did away with the dog as soon as he found out. He said there was no way he could trust a dog who would bite a child. He was a prized hunting dog... But I understand not wanting neighbors I live in Arlington and in the last 5 years it has blown up like crazy thankfully my neighbors are great but my husband and I are planning on moving to MT and buying at least 10 acres. To many shady ppl around here. No neighbors = bliss lol

Have you tried contacting the landlord? Once they're notified they may have to share some responsiblity in the future? IDK, but it would be worth trying. I do understand not wanting to have an on going fight with a neigbor.

This is too funny ! ! ! ! See just as I was reading this (6:35pm) we were ROCKED by thundaaaar ! SCERRRRT everybody in the house.
We had a downpour this afternoon as well. Hubby didn't quite believe me as he didn't hit any rain on the way home until he was within a mile, then it just was like a curtain. Athena got all upset at the thunder, barking and insisted I go out and make sure the chickens were safe. The birds aren't stupid and were running for the awning.

I would have called the cops if I was bit not only once but twice.. that is unsafe for everyone. I am sorry but it would have been a dead dog.

I agree. My old French Brittany (died at 15, may he RIP) and I were attacked on two different occasions by pitbull while out walking in the neighborhood. I called on it both times. The first time, the owner was given a warning. The 2nd time my dog accidentally trapped me by wrapping me up to a tree with his leash. That was scary. After a lot screaming and barking, and the help of a car driving by, thankfully, the pitbull retreated. After that 2nd time the dog was taken away. The owner said he built a 6 foot high fence for it and kept it on a chain - but the dog would break the chain and jump the fence. The officer who picked it up said the dog had snapped the chain in half and did manage to jump over a 6 foot wood fence. The officer said it had to go, it was too dangerous to roam free and too difficult to contain.

Dangerous dogs should be removed immediately. Imagine what it could do to a child. It's difficult to turn another person's pet in, but it would be more difficult to live with knowing you could have done something to prevent someone else from serious injury.

It's been a pretty good day around here in the chicken world...

Look who's proudly growing her muff back...

And, even better, look who's standing!!!

She has a pretty bad limp, but she can finally stand up. I even had to raise her food and water dish (which now requires her to stand to eat and drink) because she attempted to climb up on it. Here's hoping she'll recover.

She stands on her toes now. Not sure if she just has to relearn how to walk, or what. Tomorrow, I think I'll reduce the hours she spends in her chicken chair and see how she does.

I saw the moon today!
big_smile.png
( in detail I mean, lol ) We've had a huge and decently powerful telescope for years now but I've never had the fully powered batteries, right time of month, and right time of day and weather without a moon filter to be able to track down and view the moon without seriously damaging my eyes. That's right, for those of you who don't go star-gazing - The moon hurts.

Without a moon filtering lens that subtracts 25% of the actual light the moon is giving off, looking through the lens at a full or quarter or even crescent moon is very dangerous, as it is exceedingly bright, not to mention tampering with the focus to get it right down to the gritty gorgeous details of craters, valleys, and all. Well, I finally got to do it - Tonight just before it got too bright and late, I was able to track down the moon with my laser sight (new batteries) and view just the very edge of it so it didn't hurt too much, and man! Is it amazing to see the moon, in person, in such enormous blown-up detail. It is incredible. Plus, I was out a bit early, so I could actually differ the dark side of the moon with the sky. It was eerie, really. Seeing a giant gray globe moving quite quickly through space.

Anyway, just had to share with excitement. The lunar eclipse for us will be this June 5th, hopefully we'll have a nice clear sky that night, and the moon will be darkened out enough, I'll be very excited to see a full detail surface of the moon, soaked in rich scarlet to deep blood red coloration.

I made a really weird phone call this morning! This will show you guys how weird I really am....

I was on Craigslist this morning and found an add for 9 hens and a Roo for $10. Not $10 each, but ten for the hole flock and the last bag of food. I was trying really hard not to call and get them, they were just in Snohomish but I am at my limit untill I get a new coop built. So I cotinued to scan threw and found another add that said chickens needed ASAP. I sat and thought for a few minutes and then I called the number on the add for wanted chickens. A man answered and I explained that I was calling about his add, well he began laughing (which made me think it was a prank at first) he explained that he knew his wife had put up an add wanting them but did not realize that she had put his number on the add! I explaind to him that this was going to be a weird call and that I had found another add on CL just a few adds away from theirs in their area, the price and the phone number for it. LOL He thanked me and that was that.

I just figured that if I could not have them I could at least help out some one who could. I hope they were able to get them.
Sounds like something i would do. We're compulsively helpful.
