Bobcat! I put the chickens in about an hour ago. I just heard a bunch of squawking, very loud from my coop. I went out to check and saw a good size bobcat at the (closed, whew) door to the run. I just added a bungy cord to reinforce. Glad there was no lunch for the bobcat today. My poor chickens are still sending out the alarm.

Hi everyone! I'm from Aberdeen, Washington and am new to this site. Are there any others out there nearby? We are just starting our flock. We have 3 Silver Laced Wyandotte hens, 3 Black Australorp hens, 2 mixed bantam hens, and a Blue Aracauna bantam rooster. I'm looking forward to learning all I can from those of you more experienced chicken people :)

Chickielady is close to your area.

I have decided that it is still hatching time around here. I have 18 baby chicks now. did have 20 but 2 died after hatch. This morning there was a baby turkey in the incubator. his egg was one I was going to get rid of before it started to smell funny.

The babies we have are polish, silkies and black copper marans. Oh they are all so dang cute. I had to move them from the brooder my friend let me borrow because it just wasn't big enough. They are now in what I call the piggie cage. It is for rabbits, guinea pigs etc. Pretty big. They have a heat lamp in there and because it is wire only I have put towels over it. When a new chick joins the "Chicken Hotel" I heat up the rice bag and put it in there with a towel over it to keep it clean. They all love it. When the heat is gone from it, they still sit on it. it's must be super cozy for em.

Sounds bad, I am getting tired of 1 or 2 eggs hatching at a time.. I did set about 15 eggs on the 25th so Now I can keep track of days better. lol.

Quote: Thank you, I hope she does to. Not only is she going to have to face the music on taking off for a few weeks but she was already on contract with "Beca" as far as her school absences, so she will have to deal with that too!
Quote: Thank you so very much!
Quote: I totally agree, will be calling the police to see what they say!
Quote: I am relieved beyond belief! Again you guys were all so great and such a great support for me in keeping my sanity.

I forgot, I also have 2 Speckled Hamburgs that I am pretty sure that I will be selling $15 for anyone here ($20 on Craigslist) they are only a year old. I will post pics later today!
