I most of that stuff is supposed to be used on older animals, but the chick will die if you don't. Just be careful not to get is in the eyes and nose. I hope someone else out there has done this before and can chime in. I was talking to WA4-Hpoultry mom one time and she said she had to do it once. Give her some electrolytes in the water too. If you don't have some you can get chick saver or something like that at feed stores. So this morning I went out to check on Burtha and her chicks (silkies) and the one and only yellow/white one was not really walking around at all. She was just standing there. Then I watched Burtha with her big ol feet step and stand on the chick. My DD said that she saw this same thing happen this morning to that same chick. I am not sure if it was sick to begin with and that is why she kept getting steped on sense she would not move out of the way when momma was coming threw. So I brought her in and dipped her beak into the water a few times. She just kept shaking her head every time I did it. She is very lethargic and week. Then I noticed that she has lice! Yeah! I grabed a bowl of DE and rubbed her down with it, trying to rub it into her fur/feathers hoping that will help. But I have this stuff called Insectrin Dust (Permethrin) for lice but I don't know how young is too young for chickens and chicks. It sais you can use it on dogs and cat just not kittens and pups. Does any one know if I can use it on week old chicks?????
