Well here is the skinny so far......
Not only is it still raining, but I had to call DH at work to let him know I got the backhoe stuck in possibly the only mud out in the front area

! So not only am I covered in nettle stings from head to toe ankle, but I wont be getting anything done on the turkey coop today

!
Also I have a Buff O that has been trying for about a week or so to go broody on me (and she is mean as a some what broody) and now Fancy my Silver Laced Wyandott with feathered feet decided she is now broody

. This is what I get for wishing for my first broody a while back, I got one and then some. So, even thought I have "enough" chickens, I am looking for hatching eggs from somone in my area (ish). I don't really mind what they are, but I am hoping to find some Black Copper Marans most of all. Other breeds that are on the top of my list are; (anything that will lay me DARK brown eggs or green/blue eggs)

Now that is just a list of my top wants, but right now I will take anything pretty much just to give these ladys some chicks of their own!

Well that is not too bad....yesterday I had DH hook up the 220 to the big well so I could hook A SINGLE GARDEN HOSE to it & douch out the gravel in a chicken pen (gets poopy & muddy after a while) and after wards I decided to water the garden.
So I picked up the extension cord, and plugged into the little in line pump on my garden water tank (rain water) and it jumped & had a fit (I had to stand back !

) and then it emmitted a smallish poof of burnt wire smoke & I unplugged it.
I called DH...he solved the mystery as he had left the extension cord plugged into the 220 outlet he uses for welding & using the basically useless deep well we have.
The little pump somehow survived the fry & works fine.

Sacrey though !

I can collect black Ameraucana (roo is lavender so babies will carry the lav gene), Olive Eggers (they will be black, blue,cuckoo or blue cuckoo babies), BLRW, Blue/Black English Orp, Black/Lavender Orp eggs for you. Let me know if you are interested and how many of what you would like!

Oh and one more thing. I noticed some of you were talking about brewery left overs for animal food! (at least I hope you were lol) This guy is Forest he is one of the greatest guys you will meet and he is in Granet Falls. Here is his add from Craigslist. This stuff is great, it is what I have my pigs on and I toss some out to the chickens every once in a while.

Offering barley mash from a local brewery. Loaded in 55 gal barrels, weight between 350- 400 lbs. $15.00 per barrel plus barrel deposit of $ 5.00 on the farm. Can load No delivery at this time. Ron B, CL tells me you are the top bowler from Bikini Bottom. My reflex time is so slow, I just close my eyes and click. Best I've done is 89 once. Any tips for bettering my score??

My best so far was 89.....................I asked DH if he wanted to play & he just glared at me & thinks we are all nuts !

Does anyone have any 8-13 week old light colored Easter Eggers/Ameraucanas available to give/sell? I think I would like 1-2. I don't one a black one, or any that look like my Martha/Lay-a. I want cream colored, white, light light tan, etc. I just want some really pretty additions to my flock who will lay green and blue eggs. Or perhaps a Maran who lays dark dark brown eggs? I know it's weird to think of my egg basket and how colorful it is, but I do

How old does a child need to be to start 4-H? I have a 4 year old I was thinking she can start when she is 5. Her birthday is in Feb.

I think that they have to turn six during that school year in order for them to join, but the page at the Snohomish County WSU Extension site isn't loading for me.....so if she turns 5 in Feb, she could joing the following fall. So when she would normally enroll in Kindergarten. Does that make sense? You could always call the extension office and make sure. HTH!!

I'm thinking of selling our Wheaton Americauna along with the flock so we can concentrate on just one breed in her coop, too. She's pretty sweet and lays a mint green egg. She was hatched on 5/7/11, though, so is older than you were looking for.

I've been trying to play catch up on the threads, and already forgot for sure what breeds you were looking for to replace your birds with, but seem to remember it was something I had.

I've been toying with the idea of parting with my English Orps and/or my Lavender project Orps. If either flock interests you, let me know.

Only reason I'm thinking of rehoming them is that they are my largest birds. They eat the most and take up the most room, and I need room!!! I've got way too many birds right now and no where to but all the juveniles.....sigh. I usually wait until late summer / early fall to start thinning down the flocks for winter, but if anyone is insterested, let me know. I'd want them to go to someone who will be able to breed them in case I ever want to get babies down the road!!! LOL!
