Go to your bank. If you CA house is paid off, you could potentially get a HUGE line of credit, enough to build this one here. We got one on ours, just in case of this flood CR is talking about.

Duck poo..............I becoming obsessed with ducks. Please talk me out of it. The poo is worse than chickens, right? I am going to have a free chicken coop soon, that would make a really good duck house.
Geez, with all this weather maybe I should have gotten ducks and not chickens. hehehehe
So sadly, our Silver did end up passing away. Most likely internal injuries. It's very sad, but everyone has calmed down. My brother did return the chick he so impulsively bought within hours of the accident! My DH and I just told him and my nephew that lets just adjust to the current 5 and maybe in a few months or so we can add, if we want. Our coop, that we built for 6, has only been up for a week. DH said he wants to see how the current chickens do for now. Maybe we can squeeze two more in, but now is just not the time.
Yesterday, I was out in the coop. I was holding Amy, our Salmon Favorelle. I was talking to her and telling her she needed to step up as head chicken now that Silver was gone. She started bok bok boking at me and shaking her head. I guess she doesn't want the job.![]()
Thanks to everyone for thier input on the situation. This really is a great group!!!![]()

Yikes. Glad your friend is okay! Aren't you loving that coop though? I can't stop looking at mine. I have the day off tomorrow so I think I'm going to start priming it and get the finishing touches on it in preparation for the youngn's to move in!
Oh my gosh, I brought in a rooster and tried to keep him from his girls. It took one day for that guy to get out of his area and get to them. he came from a safe home so I fig oh well.Hey everyone! So....don't flame me. I decided not to quarantine anymore. I got Ricky from Dawn and Princess from Tamara and they are both in great shape! I've inspected them daily since Saturday (yep only 2 days), assessed my risk, and decided to put them in with the bigs. Man, the big girls aren't very nice. There's only a 3 week age gap between oldest and youngest and right now it seems huge when it's 8.5 and 11.5 weeks! I hope they all figure out the new pecking order soon. Princess is beside herself and didn't even go in to roost with the rest tonight, maybe just taking a break from the meanies. last night she spent an hour in the house with me. I had to go out into the run and take her to the roost bars where everyone else was all settled already. I'm confident there's nothing wrong with any of the birds and if there is I knew the risk. I have meds on hand and I'm just keeping a good watch. I don't ever plan to acquire more outsiders as long as these ones breed just fine; hoping to have some of our own chicks in the spring, as long as Ricky steps up and does his job eventually![]()
I dont know if he does, Id say no but maybe. I do know that Country Animal out here has said theyd fix one of my roosters before so I could keep him. Now thats been a years ago.I'm not sure if I saw your goat there or not. There were many animals there on the day we went.
Just curious, does the vet in Enumclaw treat poultry?
Gald to see your doing well. Ask friend to save milk jugs for all that milk, thats what we did and still are doing. When we got up to 6 goats is when I got our milk machine it sure helps. Keep in touchHi everyone!
Ok so now I'm 1058 post behind!! LOL!!
Jeez! I'm sure I've missed a bunch! It just has been crazy here! I really had no idea how much milk I was going to get, and so I have one whole fridge I keep storing it in, and aside from feeding the babies, I am going to have to start freezing it!! Problem is I don't have a bunch of plastic jugs to freeze in! So, we have now 6 doelings and one buckling, and two does left to kid. Milking has been a pain cause my right hand is falling asleep and it's coming from the elbow?? Not carpal tunnel. We did get a little milking contraption and Terry used it this morning and said it worked slick!
My buckeyes and B RIRs and B ams are doing awesome, but, probably neglected, just trying to keep up is tough! No word from the VA on the orthopedic apt, I'm not pushing it right now with everything going on, and I think I will have our insurance take care of it anyway.
Hope everyone is well! Weather has been a booger!!?? It's really ticking me off! I still have a flat that I planted and the plants are like 6 inches tall and I still don't have them planted!! LOL!!
Ok well![]()
to any newbies! hope your learning lots! Still waiting on my rennet and cultures to start cheese making! But, I did find a recipe for a Queso Blanco using apple cider vinegar, so I'm going to try that today. Don't have the funds for the soap making stuff, that will be a little later.
Hugs to all! Miss you guys! as soon as we calm down here, and I have a chance to breath I will be back more often!!
