Bob was hard on his girls, particularly the Australorps. The poor woman who bought the Australorps today was new to chickens and a bit dismayed at their appearance!

I'm glad you found a home for them! :)

So Princess still seems to be doing pretty badly. She's breathing solely with her mouth open. She does want to be with the rest of the flock though and is very distressed when I take her away, so I put everyone on Corid and Duramycin-10. Tonight I took Princess off the roost and gave her a pretty concentrated dose of vitamins and electrolytes, antibiotics, and Corid via a dropper. I'm hoping tomorrow morning she'll be much better but not holding my breath. I half expect to go out and find my very first belly-up after only doing this for 12 weeks.

Mine got a whole watermelon this afternoon

All my girls shared half a head of cabbage and some shredded lettuce. Also some older chopped up tomatoes.

How do y'all give treats like that to your chickens? Throw it on the ground? Too messy to clean up after them. If I put it in a bowl, they still throw it all over the place. How to keep the mess contained when giving scraps so that rodents don't come for leftovers?

How are her wings, are they drooping at all?

Sometimes, but not all the time. She did have the energy to go outside today (after spending the day in the coop with Ricky), she ate some as her crop felt more full than yesterday, and she jumped up to the roost with the rest of the girls tonight. She did poop as I gave her the solution from the dropper this evening though and it was laced with blood. I'm thinking maybe she's on the upswing though?

Poor girl, I hope she is on the upswing!

And I hope Ricky is doing ok!
He will be crowing soon for sure - Sid and the other spitz-cross cockerel were having a crowing contest this morning! Ack! Not good!

Will it really be another sunny day? I'm hoping so - I am so ready for the Imported English Blue Orpingtons to be out of the house! They're 6 weeks old now and I've been wanting to get them outside gradually but the days have been so cold and rainy and I'm afraid I baby the chicks a little too much.

But today - I've got the covered X-Pen set up and they are finally going to experience the great outdoors. So far, so good! Think I'm going to clean out that junky mini-coop and get them in there for good today. The beautiful NEW mini-coop still needs to be primed, painted and finished before any babies go in there yet. So the kit-coop it will have to be in the meantime. They may protest and I may worry but they are WAY too big for the bunny cage in my house anymore!

Here are the cuties - if I had to make a guess, I'd say I have 2 boys and 2 girls right now. I want to grow them out as long as I can but then those boys will have to find new homes and will be for sale. Aren't they pretty? They stood together like a Roman statue - I'll call them "The Four Virtues"

Beautiful! I bet they are loving it outside! Can't wait to see the new coop all ready and with your chooks inside! Yay, Velvetfog for getting so many of our folks set!
