Question: If you list something on CL and then get an e-mail about the item saying nothing but:

I'm interested, call me 123.456.7890 (with a real phone number)

do you even call them back? I never do. I wait until someone genuinely interested writes me a real message. When I listed the chain link fencing, I got ***4*** of those stupid one-liners and ***1*** genuine interest e-mail. Annoying!

*sigh* So I went to check the run just now; food looked a little weird. I walked in the run and yes, it was all wet! Rain does get in the covered run because it runs off the coop roof and the splashing of the rain was getting in the feeder. So now I just lost several pounds of Scratch and Peck. I will change it out in the morning and then relocate it to a place in the run where it won't get wet. That's such a bummer!

Tomorrow is Reber Ranch's customer appreciation sale. I got a $10off a $50 purchase card so I'm going to go take advantage of that; might get another feeder and waterer to use across the yard on sunny days, and possibly (if it doesn't add up yet) stock up on my first bag of layer. I can put it in my deep freezer and it should hold another 7-8 weeks when we switch to Layer feed. Fun stuff! There's a hay ride (rain? yuck!), free coffee and donuts in the morning, pet food reps (maybe sample of chicken feed or cat stuff for my kitty). We'll see how it goes.

Oh, I didn't even think of water splashing up! I want to put our feeder beneath the coop. I wonder if it will get wet there. Thatnks for the heads up, I'll have to put my thinking cap on. Normally, I'm not worried because I just keep a thin layer of feed in the very bottom of the feeder. With 3, it takes them a while to go through it. If I ever had to throw what was in the feeder away, it would be no big deal. I guess I'm more worried about when we're gone camping. I planned to fill the feeder to the brim.

Your run would be pretty easy to put a gutter and downspout on. They're not too expensive, and they go on easy. That would probably solve your splashing problem.

We have that Reber Ranch card, too. Actually 2 of them - both of us somehow ended up on their mailing list. I can't think of anything we need to buy though. I just bought a 50 lb. bag of feed from the Grand Opening of the farm store in Auburn. Tonight, I finally used up the last of our very first bag of feed. It took 10 weeks to go through one 25 lb. bag!

Wish I were closer...I have been looking for some left over chain link. bummer.

In all my time selling on Craigslist chickens, chicks, eggs and so on. I have only had one person whom did not show up for what I thought were a pair of cockreles. She did not show up at said time, and then I emailed her, she responded that she had to stay longer at work so she would reschedal. She never called or emailed back, it's ok though I ended up wanting to keep them anyway!

Sorry that you had to deal with that crud. It also makes me mad, not only cause it is hard on the sellers, but also because it makes it harder on some of us that would never do that and truly want to buy the item.

Hope everyone has a good night, and I look forward to catching up here with all the night chatter in the morning.

Don't throw out the wet feed! They can still eat it. Switch it out with dry but use the wet food as a treat. Like oatmeal. You could even add some chopped veggies to it. I'd check into freezing the wet stuff too? then just reheat for a treat.

I will usually call back. A lot of people are so used to texting one-liners now. I don't seem to have that one-liner thing down... I still tend to ramble. But, I do know people who don't like getting anything but a one-liner. Those are the same people who "twitter" all the time, too.
