Lily has been keeping in touch via Facebook so I've kind of gotten "headlines" about her various activities and seen a lot of photos of the places she's toured while she was there. She's been to wineries, to Parma where HUGE Parmesan cheese wheels are made, a place in Tuscany where Balsamic Vinegar is produced, and a weekend in Rome, where we visited when she was 14, so she was able to visit some of our favorite places again.
One of her lengthiest stories so far though has been celebrating her 20th birthday in Florence. After a night of dancing at a club with some girlfriends, they met a group of "beautiful, young French musicians" who were hanging out in the Piazza in front of her apartment. The boys played Happy Birthday for her and then serenaded the girls with a lot of other songs and my DD had a sweet 2 day flirtation with "Jule" who she's Facebook friends with now. (It was all quite innocent - she does have a steady bf back in Pullman who she was missing.)
She sent me a link to his page and he is an adorable, Euro-hip boy.
Along with getting a good education, earning credits toward her major, and making good friends from the program at WSU, I guess a brief flirtation in Italy is something for a young woman's diary as well. It's the stuff movies are made of.
I am looking forward to hearing more about the more
academic portion of her visit once she returns home!
P.S. Hey CL! In keeping with the theme, I named our young Olive Egger from you "Toscano" for the olive oil brand. Sure hope she lives up to the name when she starts producing eggs!
