Dad died last night.

I"m sorry.

Drop a sheet of painted, use latex, plywood or osb on the wire. If you have a brood that you are trying to break, remove the plywood. If you have a broody that you want to let sit on eggs, put the plywood in place.

I could make hutches like that, not too expensive either -- oh .. someone asked about treadle feeders -- Kim I think -- would anyone else be interested in those?

Here's a link to the plans I'd use for a guide:

Id love to have a couple treadle feeders have the plans and everything, hubby said he's make them for me and still hasnt.

But he has dont lots of other things.

Does anyone have any silkies you can part with?? I want one that is at least 11-18 weeks old. Really needs to be a good fit with my flock. I'm picking up two Marans pullets on Saturday and can keep a new silky with them so I'd LOVE to get one Saturday!!! Yes, must be a pullet. No, I don't care what color.

OK! Listen up! Well I suppose that should read Read UP!

This is for only those of you who love your chickens and just might consider giving them a cooked ear of corn to play with. (you all might even like to eat corn on the cob also)
Here is an absolute easy, non messy way to cook corn on the cob. Yay.
oh my gosh that is so cool!

Ok .. I think I'll make one this weekend to see how it goes. Then I can set up a system to make several all at once. I'm sure we can make arrangements to meet some place. I think KMHunter wanted two, you'd want two -- even numbers work out well as those plans call for half of a sheet of plywood. We could probably use a pretty good grade of plywood too. Even the best 1/2" stuff would make a feeder for under 30 bucks.
Oh Id love to have two at the least, pm me and let me know how much to see if I can swing it.

4312 - If your run is mostly dirt, please tell me how you lkeep it cleaned out? Do you shovel out poop? Rake it into the dirt? Scoop it out? I jsut want to know how to have a reasonably well maintained and poop-free chicken run without a lot of hassle with shoveling stuff in and out. THanks so much!
My run is actually sand (I bought a dump truck full). It is at least 6 inches sand. I actually have a rake in the run, I use the rake and I will rake up poop piles, scoop and put in my compost pile. I don't get 100% of it, but we are (usually) dry and hot over here. The sand absorbs the moisture. The poop is pretty much hard stuff and easy to clean. Also, a couple times a year I take my small rototiller and fluff up the sand a bit.

eta: There is no way to have a poop free fun. Sorry. You can keep it nice and clean, but not spotless. I should probably do once a week, but I probably do more like once a month and it is still nice and clean (persay). But my run is 8 ft across and about 30 feet long.

What is wrong with me? I want a dog. Ugh. I hate dogs. this has been going on for weeks. I keep getting an inkling that since we have an indoor cat and outdoor chickens, we need a dog. eesh. I don't even like dogs. I like puppies. NOT dogs. Maybe I need to meet the right dog. I grew up with large dogs like Dobermans and Labs, Pit Bulls and Rotts, but why OH! why, suddenly, do I think I need a dog!? ew. I don't like dogs they smell and are SO high maintenance. hrmph.
I have 4 dogs (small) and 4 pain in the neck cats (one in my lap right now). My idea of a dog = small child. I see your avatar is of a little guy. Getting a puppy (fun and cute) is just like having another small child that never grows up.

OK PREPARE yee self cause I can't contain mee self.
See since the weather was so nice DW took Pierre out to enjoy the sun.
