Good to see you!
You don't mean your whole yard do you?
No - there is a small flat area between the house and the coop that gets only a few hours of sun, and does not drain. Over the years I have spent a small fortune on grass seed, gravel and other fixes. The area wants to be a pond, so if it is safe for chickens to have access to a pond, a pond it will be.

Thanks for all the info on meds for the chickies. I am in the middle of compiling a common dosage chart for all these meds (since I have already had to look up dosages several different times all over BYC) so I have it handy out in the run with the meds. Today I brought out an unused 2 drawer file cabinet to the run and finally got all the meds and treats in one place and easily accessible :)

Once again I'm wondering if I have a sick chicken. Gah! Why does this keep happening? Maybe I over analyze everything, but Tilda, my GLW, was about to go in the coop for the night when suddenly she squirted clear liquid out her rear end. She has no other symptoms of being ill. I picked her up and checked out her vent and it's clean; she has no respiratory symptoms. She's been on the bleach solution water with everyone else now for 3 days.

OMG now this is some funny stuff. Pierre was setting on the back of the couch. He grabbed some of
Diane's hair in his beak pulled and ran away clucking almost if laughing. ROFL ! ! ! !

That's good stuff! Today YDS was eating a cookie outside and Lucy and Ethel kept jumping up to get it. He was running away crying because he's still nervous they're gonna peck him. It.was.hilarious.

Hello again Chickielady. I received an email back from Wendy. The breeder's book is in error. They do not have Australorps on their farm. Thanks anyway though. Nice of you to try.

Hi fellow Washingtonians! My son and I are looking to add 4 chicks to our flock of 5. It seems we just missed the big chick season. I am wondering if anyone near Tacoma has any young chicks available or will soon? I am hoping for chicks that are less than 2 weeks old so they will be used to being held and people. Our current chickens are about 2 years old. I am hoping to add some color to my flock and looking for wynadottes, speckled sussex, orpingtons or anything of the like. We currently have a black and gold sex link, barred rock and golden laced wynadotte and a rooster of unknown breed. Anyone have any leads or know of anyone with baby chicks? I have been checking craigslist without much luck. I can be reached on here or privately at [email protected]

As if smashed eggs and two dead chicks weren't enough, I ordered a second incubator last week from a well-reviewed vendor who said it would be shipped priority mail and get here by this last Monday. Instead, it was sent via UPS and wasn't going to arrive until today. When I asked what the deal was, the vendor said it was probably just a mistake and they were sorry. Uh-huh. Oh, but that's not all! The UPS status was "out for delivery" until 30 minutes ago when it was changed to "The package was missed at the UPS facility, UPS will deliver on the next business day."

I swear, if this weekend isn't better than this week, I may shoot myself.

Where are you located? Iron Horse Hay and Feed in Maple Valley has some Black Australorps that are a few weeks old; Seattle Farm Supply (in Shoreline/N. Seattle) has ample birds to choose from; Eric the owner is very knowledgeable and helpful, and gets chicks year round I think!

My "DH" just drove home drunk. I am beyond livid. This is not like him and I don't know what the he** he was thinking. And he drove his drinking buddy home too! Just the thought of putting his friend in danger and all the rest of those on the road-oh my God the more I think about it the angrier I am getting.

Thank God I am taking the kids down to Oregon tomorrow, because I don't even want to be in the same room with him for at least a week. He won't even remember a word I said to him tonight, which wasn't much because I will wait until tomorrow. But I did tell him if he ever ends up in jail on a DUI that he'll stay there.

Now I am listening to him re-experience everything he drank. I hope it was frickin worth it. I am absolutely disgusted with his behavior right now.
I am sorry. there are those on here who have had to deal with this...only their husband got "caught" and had to "pay the price". If they come on they can chose to speak up if they choose to. But we all feel for you and understand your frustration.

Does your DH realize the average DUI cost around $5000. May want to run some numbers past him when he sobers up. Also let him know he could lose his license. That is if he does not crash and kill someone or loose his own life. Very scary. I can simpathize. I am sorry and I feel for you.
