Well, we started at the WA coast, but any trip with young kids always takes twice as long as it should!
Hallelujah, Sister! Kids bring lots of special blessings into our lives, but efficiency is NOT one of them! You gotta learn to embrace delay...

Can the stress of a move cause explosive water diarrheas? One or both of the newbies is having that. Splash! gross. They have ACV and a teensy bit of vitamin/electrolyes in their 1qt. waterer.

Yep every drugstore seem to have a free tube tester. My tool caddy was a large grey box and I carried enough to rebuild a tv in your living room. (and people expected you to! Taking their tv to the "shop" was not met with smiley faces.
Vaccuum tubes are still made in other countries and I understand the best ones come out of Russia! Some music amplifiers use tubes and they are the same as the old ones. I have a Fender Blues amp that's great for for Blues and Jazz, it gives nice full round tones and it's 100% tubes. Unfortunately the cost of the tubes have gone very high. (Solid state amps are much better for most music)

Only bad part about the weekend was the phone call from my 16 year old. He finally called a week later to find out about my mom. I had left a message a week ago. got told by his grandmas hubby to not call their house again that my son was told not to have contact with me. well he finally called and told me I was on speakerphone. asked about my mom and then wanted to know about my other 2 kiddos... I told them they were both doing good and that my youngest got diagnosed severe adhd and possibility of autism that will be evaluated more in 3 months. I heard his grama whisper to him that I was lying. He said he had to go and I asked if he would call me again sometime. his reply "Nope *****" and he hung up. Right now he is being told lies and things about me that aren't true and he choses to believe it. But I had to make a choice a year and half ago... leave him in jail for over 3 years or find a family member that would be willing to take him and he do 2 yrs probation. My family all live out of state and couldn't take him. So I found his Grandma's number (she had no contact for 12 years her choice) and got ahold of her. Today I regret that choice but I also see this as his only hope of having anysort of life as an adult. It is still hard to have my own son call me horrid names and hang up. So no more phone calls for me. Letters get read to him and twisted around. So My only thought is cards.. simple..
Children can be such jerks at times, especially when led by an adult that has their own agenda and axe to grind. I saw my brother go through this and now one of my sons is now going through similar trials.
You can only do your best but I do understand how hard it is when kids treat you that was.
God Bless, and prayers.

Got a late start today but I did get most of the nesting boxes built. The 4 boxes will go through the exterior wall into the coop and I'll have access from outside to gather the eggs when they start laying. Once the boxes are complete (at my rate it may be awhile) the painting will start.

I'm not particularly fond of painting.
Looking forward to fresh eggs.

Hey livin here yer pretty safe from the painting. Just make sure to have plans during summer. That would only be one day. The 5th of July.

Tomorrow -- get materials to build a grower pen for these 31 chicks. They are very noisy in my house lol. I actually need a pen that is divided into 2 sections Older and Younger nuggets. This should be a fun little adventure. Luckily I do know how to operate the power tools and run the vroom vroom drill. Right now the little nuggets are seperated into 3 pens in my house. argh!!! when did chicken math strike???? But landlady is buying the materials for the grower pens so all I have to do is build.

If I have a pullet who started limping tonight (like she's hurt, not like she's paralyzed) and there's no visible injury, what do I do? She's about to go to bed...could a good night of rest be what she needs, or do I actively need to help her somehow? She's still eating and drinking, just having a bear of a time getting where she wants to go.
