Nope I will be flying them to Yakutat AK

That is what I meant, shipping via the aeroplane :D

But I will be flying with them.... they will be traveling as my baggage not cargo/shipping

I'm also hoping to be bringing back a 100lbs of fish... Halibut would be awesome!

so far we have about 290lbs of king and sockeye to split 3 ways...
one is up fishing for halibut this weekend... I'm hoping to fly up with the birds and come back with fish next week but depending on work it might have to wait for 2nd week in august... sigh

Would anyone be interested in a gathering of chicken people sale type thing?
I'm thinking we could crash North Seattle Community College campus parking lot for a "swap" sale etc...
just park and sit and chat and ohh look I have chickens in my trunk.... must open the trunk to allow air...
You want eggs? wow I have some in my back seat... what a coincidence....

:D

Let me know if ya all might be interested....

I might have a Bantam Ameraucana trio .... still counting boys

Yes but I have to get things scheduled first. Work, my Alaskan friends, the birds, how many they want etc etc....
I work for a airline so the flying part is easy and no cost.... it is the rest that will take time

Yes take both doors off the nest boxes... they can start playing early to fuss and play house and etc.... If you catch them roosting in the nest then there is something the hen does not like about the roost so they went to nest instead. Or if they are old enough they will nest sit when broody...... It is the major way for me to tell who is getting broody or is broody in my flock.

Rainwolf - Cool! How old are they and what colors? When do you think you would now? I'm talking to somebody who has white Ameraucana trio in Calif willing to ship right now. But maybe I should just get them all.....I could pick up from Seattle. You can message me directly if you prefer.

I am hoping to have em counted soon... we call them the bugs or fleas or meeses... they swarm your feet and you have to watch where you step! I have blacks and blues and 1 other person interested in a trio... I am hoping/thinking I have enough for a second trio. I can try to count them tonight after roosting.... issue/problem is some tend to roost in my apple tree :( I've been clipping wings when they roost in the coop but I'm not sure I've got them all! I know I have at least 3 boys most likely more out of the 12.

Well, I already know my Light Brahma doesn't like the roost bar. I physically set her up there last night. I'm going to do that for a while and see if I can train her to use it. She was, once again, going to sleep under the other two, in the poop zone.

I guess, if I do open those boxes, and she takes up residence - she'll at least wake up clean.

1920's book on portable houses for livestock and pets.... oh and a few people houses too.....
Broody coops, tractors, etc etc.....

Rainwolf, I'm lovin' these old documents you are posting. Keep 'em coming! I'm still trying to come up with a design for a small Silkie house/pen that will hold 3 Silkies in the spring.

Some of these designs makes me wish I grew up in the old days when you didn't have to have laws keeping you from keeping chickens.

I wouldn't have anything to bring though. It would be fun to meet people and see the babies - and, maybe, buy some eggs.
