Not all rhubarb turns red. There are green stalked varieties as well. If yours was ging to be red it should have started out that way. Go ahead and harvest!Does the rhubarb have to be red to pick and use? We have lots of large stalks but they're still green.

Mine is 22lbs. He's a beast...and only slightly fat; he's just a HUGE variety of cat. His brother was MUCH bigger.So...not little by any means. He could whoop most dogs' butts!![]()
I have rhubarb in the backyard if anyone want free rhubarb any time. I don't do a thing with it, it just keeps coming backwere off to the splash park again, though I hear thunder and we might not get wet, oh well we can use the other dry park too

Let them ripen and turn red. Stay away from the leaves, they contain oxalic acid which is poisonous. The stalk also contain it but in very small quantities (More in the green stalk I think).
Apart from strawberry and rhubarb cobbler/pie, it makes a fabulous wine!
Oooh, on the way back from the vet, I think I'll pick some up for cobbler this weekend. Yummy!![]()
Welcome! I'm pretty new to chickens myself (only had them a year). My mom-in-law used to live in Castle Rock. Beautiful scenery!!!This is so awesome that there's a thread for each state! What a great way to connect and meet new people who are nearby!![]()
My friends aren't really "critter" people so they all kinda look at me like I'm crazy when I get all excited about something animal related. It's sad, I feel bad for them. Hehehehe.
If you have some molding around you could put the linoleum down than but molding around the edges, that way you can change it. I only have tile in my brooder have to do a good clean out of the other coops and put linoleum down but thats how Im going to do when I get a chance. Those of you who have linoleum on your coop floors - how is it affixed? For my last coop DH says it had self adhesive strips underneath. I got a scrap from my cousin yesterday and it does not. Do you staple? Nail it? Is there glue or some adhesive strips I can find at the hardware store? I am SO close to finishing my VF coop - I'm want to move the Silkies out of the house this weekend!
TIA!
That's terrible! Sorry this happened to you.I lost a chick to a hawk today. We were all outside, kids running, yelling, playing and all of a sudden out of nowhere darts down this small hawk and snatched up a baby FROM UNDER A TREE! less than 50 ft away from where a friend and I were sitting in the yard.
I got up and ran yelling, arms flailing, when I saw it coming down but I was too late![]()
Such an awful feeling watching it fly away
