Hey ya'll.
Wow I am 300ish posts behind! There is no way I can catch up, so I hope everyone is doing well. I have been really busy.
Well we have only been here in our home for a year (also just had our one year anniversery on the 22nd) and we have decided to sell this house and buy another ASAP. The market is good for us right now and only about 1/2 our land is useable. The other 1/2 is soggy wet lands. Now I just have to find the perfect place, which I already did but it is out of our budget but stuck in my dreams.

As far as chickens, my 14 chicks are doing great and the Moms just decided today that they were ready to go back out with the rest of the flock and are sleeping in the coop tonight.
Sadly I had a rooster attacked by one of our turkeys.Thought he was a goner the next day, but he pulled through and now I am just hoping he will make a full recovery.

She sounds like she has some major issues!! Unmedicated bi-polar or multiple personalities??? I hate being told what I can or can't do with the place I live in. I think that's why we bought out in po-dunk Finley! I guess I just have issues with authority.

LOL Finley is basically just down the road. Well we got our chickens and our ducks here finally. 1 chicken didn't make the short 8 mile drive she managed to get squished on the ride...

Landlady is a nut at times which is driving me crazy. But today involved a ton of dirt therapy for hubby and I. He got the expected but dreaded phone call from his aunt today. His cousin Rick who last year was given 6 months because of the cancer, passed away at midnight last night Idaho time. Rick had his 2 grown children, his wife and his mother by his side at the final moments. He told them that the pain was finally gone and then closed his eyes. Rick was only 57 yrs old and basically raised with my hubby for a lot of years. Hubby and Rick were close and had a brother type relationship. I got to meet Rick and his family, and Hubby's aunt Norma and Uncle Tommy last year. They all touched my heart in so many ways. I was instantly their family right from the introduction. No questions, expectations or anything. In my last 2 marriages the inlaws did all they could to get rid of me and never treated me like family... Hubby's Idaho family will always be dear to my heart.

We are going to be going to Idaho at a later date to have family time with Norma and Tommy. Right now with it being a small town They are all overwhelmed. Norma decided hubby and I need to come later and take a 4 wheeler ride with them to the mountains for a remembrance time. It is what Rick told us he wanted from us the last time we went to see him around memorial day.

Yea I am still having a hard time with it and so is hubby. sounds wierd but we both ended up sitting outside tonight and watching the chickens and ducks. It helped some.

and I should be able to leave here some time tomorrow and if I drive really fast I should make it out to the coast in time on Thursday. I just hope nobody will want a ride home afterwards. Of course nobody will want a ride home with me before I done, if I do things right.

to the last two posts. I have never had turkeys. This is the first time. They are fun. AND...Banties and Seramas are a lot of "bang for your buck". Lots of attitude in a small package. I have had some ask me what "good" are Seramas...what are they "good for"? I ask them...what purpose is a chihuahua? Well, a serama is a chihuahua of the poultry world. Only they do lay eggs..albiet small ones. (for the record I have 2 part chihuahua dogs).

I am so tired today...coming down with some sort of cold/sinus thing.
Can't figure out what could be blooming now that is bothering me so much ??????????

JB: There is a horde of cockerels here you can take home to process, so save room for the plucker and a crate.
I have several at 3 mo and a few starting to crow.
I processed 8 last week and have enough in the freezer already.
have loads of small guys too.
Okay I will get the crate and what ever boxes I can find. I am very happy that Thursday will work for you. I am hoping to pick up Mamawolf at the Sumner Train Station at 8:17 am on Thursday morning. I still have room for one or two other people if they would like to ride down and back. We could all meet up at the Train Station. I am hoping to meet up with the Rustler for at least a moment or two also. I need to get a couple of fans from him.

Has anyone ever caught their chickens eating foxgloves? My four 3 month old pullets (one of whom is my avatar) have been eating the foxgloves in my garden, much to my chagrin. I didn't even notice that they were eating them until two days ago when I saw them tearing a large leaf apart; I've since noticed that most of the plants have partially-eaten leaves. I freaked out and flew to town to get some activated charcoal, but the little brats never show any signs of being affected. Does anyone else have crazy girls (or boys) like mine, or am I all alone?!

Well I just heard in the beginning that chickens won't eat the stuff that is bad for them and not to worry about it. I might be wrong, but my girls also eat foxglove out of our out of control weed garden "wildflower garden" all the time and they seem fine. Poops are normal and they're growing. I don't think everything you read is always accurate, so I'd wait and see if they get diarrhea or keel over before tearing out the foxglove

I think that if I wanted to tear out all of our foxgloves I'd need a machete to get through everything else! Maybe we just have super-chickens.

Are they just eating the leaves? Maybe it's the flowers that have the digitalis in them. Or, maybe digitalis doesn't affect chickens.....
