Some of us are doing as much as we can and try to do more all the time.
These conversations can make people feel guilty, or like they aren't doing enough and that they could be judged for it.
Just remember, Do what you can and strive to do more when you can, and don't feel bad if you can't do as much as someone else.
This isn't keeping about keeping up with the Jones's. This is about having a healthy lifestyle and teaching our kids the same.

We have some wind power. it was VERY expensive to set up. It is my husbands hobby. I would never be a green snob about power, a garden, etc; because when you are self righteous and chastise, it's a turn off. That doesn't help anyone, it's just pretensious.

Agreed.

Wind power? I didn't see that when I was there. That's so cool! Granted, I was kind of mesmerized by the chickens.

You mean like this ??? Yes I am always looking for the pink tanks. These have been pretty popular.

Oh my gosh... CR don't hate me... I'm doing my best to get rid of them the right way... but I have put many of those things out to recycle. In fact, I probably have a partially full one of those in the shed. We use those for parties and Cub Scout events.

However, I still can't imagine that the same amount of calories from processed foods is the same as calories from fresh, wholesome foods. I know the caloric value is the same, but surely not the quality?

It's not the same. Well, the math part is, but the way your body reacts is very different.

I think what happens is your body craves more food when you eat a lot of processed stuff. Even though you are eating, your body is still malnourished. So, you crave, and then you eat more.

I earned my "lifetime" status at Weight Watchers after losing all my baby weight (well, not all of it - most of it - twins do a doozy on the body). I learned a lot at WW - and the two biggest things I learned was eat 3/4 of your plate in veggies and drink water before every meal. Because your food is nutrient rich, cravings will diminish.

Well, I should go to sleep. I'm so excited - I get to pick my biggest little boy up tomorrow. Seven nights away from home is a long time. The week went well, though - the littlest boy was a dream to work with as both of his siblings were out of the house. Even when his twin sister was home, he was calm and easy. A full week - and no sibling squabbles, that's unheard of around here.
